Indian Muslims practice it because they have borrowed culture from the Hindus.
And because I wasn't born low caste. But i will never disallow a low caste from drinking water or stepping into house. Low caste, high caste we are the same. But its like someone calling you Ethiopian when you are really from Madagascar

Hey I am just guessing. There are many instances where the newspapers have exaggerated the results or news and caught red handed.

Come on bro look around you. How many you know closely practise untouchability? I have stayed in North India and never have seen it.

Perhaps in some rural parts but even in villages it is not so prevalent.

survey was done by NCAER and University of maryland. It was named IHDS.

Perhaps in some rural parts but even in villages it is not so prevalent.

survey is done over a sample of entire population. It is just an estimate and doesn't represent all Indians.

It was conducting in over 42,000 households across the country. Its a pretty good way to get a picture of the entire nation.

Of course its not showing the exact picture but its a scientifically useful method of getting to know whats going on among a certain group of people.

What I have heard that stereotyping India and funding research about caste system, superstitions, poverty and slums is the favorite timepass in many Western countries and thus these things pop up time to time.

42,000 is very small for a billion population and in a diverse country like India the credibility of these types of surveys can be hardly trusted.
