What's new

Biggest caste survey: One in four Indians admit to practising untouchability

in this recent case... ( Parents held for 'honour’ killing of 21-year-old Delhi University girl - The Times of India )... there were two issues... (a). caste, (b). the south asian tradition of parents considering their children to be their slaves.

yes... too much freedom to mainstream media and social media... that is why modi won.

What ??
Actually who are you to determine whether a parents treat their children fairly or not?

On topic.Exaggerated data. Why should someone allow an outsider in their kitchen?BS .
And situation is still remain what we call as BIMARU state.

.
good to see that 75% of indians don't practice untouchability

i have read of quite a few cases, including in tamil nadu.

May be..... I have never come across...... We do have hostels run by organisation based on caste (SNDP, NSS) etc.... But there is no restriction, and the entry is not based on caste or religion......

.
That is a fallacy, most of the people even do not know the caste/religion of their servant/maid who wash their clothes and utensils/clean their homes. Secular Media at work! :cuckoo:

someone who knows what justice is and what is not... parents have no right to kill their children or deprive them of money or force them to do jobs or force suicide upon them...

what is your ideology??

to prove a point maybe...

.
Sixty-four years after caste untouchability was abolished by the Constitution, more than a fourth of Indians say they continue to practise it in some form in their homes, the biggest ever survey of its kind has revealed.
one fourth of the public is practicing untouchability....:o:
thats utterly shameful .
i am really interested,,,,can someone post details of this survey...
which practices amounted to untouchabilty?,,,,,,aversion to intercast marriage,,,??

.
Though we can disagree with the percentage reported in the survey, but we cannot deny that we face a serious problem......I think the problem is severe in rural India...... and the only way out is Education......

Why is it a problem? Do you expect to let in all strangers in your house? It is the right of a homeowner to let in only who they please.

nss is for helping dalits, yes?? but what about places in rajasthan or uttar pradesh?? people in rural tamil nadu have been killed in recent months for caste reasons.

NSS is not for dalits, it is based on a caste considered to be an upper one.....

I havent heard of any such segregation during my studies........ atleast in my place No........
Because you are from Kashmir of South India??...
But its a reality in other SI states like Tamilnadu..Caste based polarization and conflicts are not so rare in Tamilnadu colleges and hostels...Chennai Ambekar law college is one of its kind.....
