Europe and Asia are not continents

Almost, but not quite. Egypt operates F-16 and Rafale and MiG-29 M / M2, all of which are medium fighters. Algeria operates Su-30MKA, a large fighter. 1 large fighter is equivalent to 4 medium fighters.

Egypt operates far more (numbers) capable aircraft than Algeria.

Capability is a matter of opinion. I count by numbers. In particular. 1 large fighter is equivalent to 4 medium fighters. 1 medium fighter is equivalent to 4 small fighters. Large fighters such as J-20, F-15, Su-30, F-4, MiG-25 / 31. Medium fighters such as Typhoon, Rafale, F-16, J-10, MiG-29 / 35. Small fighters such as JF-17, Gripen, Tejas, F-5.

And your opinion in this case is -- bunk.

Any country that cannot afford dedicated platforms like the US can, it is better off to buy medium and small multi-role fighters. One large fighter can fly only one mission while 4 medium or small fighters can fly 4 missions. Geography affects defense and when there is a grouping of small countries being each other's neighbors, friendly and hostile, medium and small fighters make better tactical and financial sense.

Large countries have great distances to cover. Algeria is the biggest Arab country. Spans more than 2000 km. Ditto Saudi Arabia. Ditto Iran. They use big fighters because big fighters have great range.

Small countries like Japan and Israel don't need a lot of distances to cover, but they are rich so they use big fighters because big fighters have greater capability especially in BVR.
