Turkey is making a sane decision .It was really nonsense and silly trying to enter EU.Now look at them, look at Greece Italy and Spain. They are EU.What have they got?
Which countries? we get like a few million from EU , we run on EU money? you sane coward we spend $55+ billion on energy what is the little EU cash enough to run 75 million people and the biggest muslim economy.
Maybe you are right.Bu what I'm trying to say is that Turkey shouldn't break it's pride, and bow down to them just to join EU.Still, they are not accepting Turkey in EU.The more you insist, the more you are lowering yourself for them. You asked them for first time, second time and third time, they didn't accept it.So just forget it.What they have? Freedom and basic human rights for everyone for example. I dont want a union with countries that dont respect their own citizens.
Era, the failure of Greece is not because of the EU but because of Greece, if there was no EU Greece would have been bankrupt by now. On the other hand what do you get from joining a Union with the thiefs and thugs of all countries? Nothing.
No one said that we run on EU money. But the fact is we're getting a lot of loans from various development banks of the EU, which finance many projects with the aim to help Turkish citizens. We're also getting some money for free, thats all part of the EU accession process.
Turkey is making a sane decision .It was really nonsense and silly trying to enter EU.Now look at them, look at Greece Italy and Spain. They are EU.What have they got?We can for a more strong union,Shanghai, with free trade and lots of other things.
Please provide a source for your word if you have one.

Very little people want to join EU but our government does while we dont , we just want to set some EU things as a critieria or goal .
Maybe not now,but there was a great desire for Turkish government for joining EU.Even if you can join EU,they are gonna look at you as strangers because:1-Turkey is closer to Asian countries than European ones, both in culture and language 2:Turkey is a Muslim majority country. About Franco-German block,I assure you,Britons would still choose Germany and France over Turkey, because history shows these countries back each other more than any other 'foreigner'.Maybe joining EU have some good possibilities and benefits for Turkey, but as you said,Turkey shouldn't insist on it too much. They shouldn't think that you need them so bad,but you should act like they need you actually.EU countries want to get rid of Russian monopoly in gas exports to Europe.Turkey is the best choice for an alternative route, sending ME countries natural gas (Iran is the best choice here) to Europe. So they need you too. What you fail to see is that there is absolutely no movement in terms of EU accession, not from out government and not from the EU. The AKP didnt really push for the EU accession since its second term (thats when the whole party changed and lost its Moe-Joe and reform-drive, the only thing left now is religion). Its basically just a waiting game from now on, which side will abort the accession talks. The side that aborts it will be the one to blame.
As you may know we Turks dont really want to join it anyway and the EU does not want us for the time being but its making a huge mistake because unlike Italy, Greece or other PIGS Turkey would be one of the payers like France, the Netherlands and Germany. The only thing they're scared of is the influence we would get in many of the EU organs, we could break the Franco-German block together with the Britons.
Actually thats a good idea, we should try to fullfill as many EU criterias, norms, laws as possible without us joining them. They're good for the modernization of the country and could help a lot of countries in the world. We have a long way to go before we can call us a democratic country.
