BGB fires blanks to stop Rohingya refugees at Bandarban border

. .
Wrong approach.

Simply look at the language of rohingya. Its a Chittagong dialect (certainly nothing close to Ghoti Bengali). They would feel most at home there in that area...linguistically and culturally.

BD after all separated from its first 2 wing 20th century nationstate on basis of its language getting trampled on/repressed in their own words (among other reasons)...so "home of islam" is no longer really a relevant purity test for the nation's raison d'etre.

Thus language is adequate and relevant logic to be expanded for these people since they have made it clear from very start they dont like to live in Burma as mere equals with same unified code and politics (like when they pushed for same 2 wing nation to annex Arakan first thing without giving Burma a chance to develop as a nation)...and harbor grudges and violent tendencies based on that complex.

The Burmese don't mess around. Historically.

Actually watched a significant part of one of the hyper crappily dubbed Ong Bak movies a couple of nights back.

Just because some of the boy cut girls in tribal jungle wear seemed cute.

The Burmese don't mess around? These are not professional soldiers, they're indisciplined savages.

Are you approving the savagery committed in real life by armed soldiers deliberately targeting unarmed children and women? They ripped out babies from pregnant womens' wombs and raped seven year olds. What level of civility allows this sort of attitude?? Oh sorry - I forgot about Kashmir.

The whole world is deploring this behavior and then you got garden-variety Sanghi sympathizers talking about approval of these Tatmadaw rogue operations to drive targeted ethnic cleansing. It's easy to do if one has never faced the thick of real savage situations and one's flippant opinions are entirely 'academic'.

Any Sanghi chest inflation because of Burma's Army savagery exploits don't check out in reality. They lose out to poorly armed rebels and insurgents like the Karen frequently and get massacred by the hundreds. Forget about facing professionally trained troops.

Which necessitates the need to recruit underage child-soldiers equipped with sandals and ragtag non-standard arms and uniforms. One can deduce the level of professionalism and training from that easily. More cannon-fodder for a desperate junta clutching at straws.

'Not messing around' always has a price to pay sooner or later, whether economic or political. You stir a hornet's nest, you're gonna get stung and pay.

Parsis are no strangers to Burma.

We controlled that economy till the British were around. Moving out only when they left.

What you've described is no different to ethnic cleansing anywhere else in the world.

It happens. The Rohingya had enough time and opportunity to mainstream.

That option is no longer on the table.

Absolutely spot on as always, friend. Rohingyas are not native to Myanmar, they are illegal Chittagonian muslim pole vaulters who have crossed over illegally to Myanmar. Rohingya is a manufactured term by the wannabe Bengali Arabs, Hindus of the region don't identify themselves with that abomination of a name. They are more backward and radicalism prone than your usual Bangladeshi, even our illegal miyas seem to be docile in front of them.

That option is still on the table and the Burmese will be MADE to comply by economic pressure. Oh only if wishes were balloons.....

Just watch what happens post CoVid-19 as their sad-sack economy goes to the gutter (it already is in it). They will be begging to comply.

Bollocks.

Bangladeshi sword waving is amusing at the best of times.

This is not the best of times.

Look at these a33holes on this thread.

Observe and don't forget.

One of a rare breed - a non-Hindu Sanghi. Or maybe a saffron-clad Sanghi on masquerade. Complete with golden masque! Like in Venice!

I am surprised a Parsi (textbook victims of persecution for eons)- most of whom got their rears kicked out of Yangon in the late 40's (ethnic cleansing) still supports Burmese savagery and hatred of Muslims.

Bizarre? or Stupid? You decide!

I guess lessons come late to the less-than-clueful.

Irrelevant how they identify themselves or whatever.

The point is, they are essentially rationalizing ethnic cleansing.

SOBs in this thread.

It is true Bangladesh to this point has been d#ckless.

That needs to change at some point.

I hope leadership is aware of the reality of things.

But to be honest, I am pessimistic about it.

Forget language.... what matters most is they are Muslim.... Myanmar is Buddhist country. Neighboring Thailand is Buddhist country..... only nearest Muslim country which shares land boundaries with Myanmar is Bangladesh.... other two Muslim states sharing maritime boundaries are Malaysia and Indonesia..... if these three states are ready to share the numbers of Rohingya with each other then nothing like it..... But first responsibility naturally goes to Bangladesh as its closest among three.... Rohingya are muslims.... purpose of Bangladesh was to form a state where muslims can practice their religion without any disturbance.... so Rohingya muslims should be welcomed....

Nothing is too late. They’re minorities after all. And India grants persecuted minorities citizenship. Embrace them supapowa

Why not??? If Bangladesh offers whole chittagong along with Rohingya staying there India might consider.... however this time there will be no territory exchange as India will be giving Bangladesh a rid of Rohingya burden....
