China helped Vietnam from inception of the war. They helped with hundreads of thousands of advisors, planes, tanks, guns, artillary, built/repaired hundreads of bridges, roads, millions of tons of food, and what not. They became adversarys soon after the war ended.

One of the main reason is Vetnam was leaning more to USSR. Then they fought a war.


Point is you fight yourself out of what you consider injustice certainly not to be dictated by some other entity later on, which negates the whole point of fighting for your cause.

Why the heck Indians left just after the war? Why didn't they stayed, like US in Iraq to ensure that you have a strong democracy and a prosper future while plundering every natural resource BD had to offer. Indians, sigh, not so smart.

Ugly policemen banned from World Cup final

The Mumbai police commissioner in charge of security for the Cricket World Cup final has banned ugly officers from being on duty at the match.

Commissioner Arup Patnaik told his senior officers during a meeting that he wanted only good-looking policemen to be among the 1,500 on duty for the showcase match at the Wankhede Stadium in order to show his city and his nation in the best possible light.

"He is showing personal interest in each and every aspect of security for the ground," a senior officer told the Press Trust of India.

"During a meeting, he said that fit and good-looking cops should be deployed in and around the ground."

Patnaik also specified that overweight or tobacco-chewing officers should not be working anywhere near the stadium on the day of the final, India's Daily News and Analysis newspaper reported.

"There is a tendency among our policemen to behave rudely at times. This is going to be an international event, and so the city police should look good and behave well," a police source told the paper.

Patnaik has only been in his job for a matter of weeks, but it is not the first time he has drawn media attention.

Last week he made surprise inspections of several police stations, with any officers who were found watching the cricket on TV or dozing in their armchairs being punished by being put on duty away from TV screens during the final matches of the tournament.

More than 300 Bangladeshi police officers have been forced to retire as part of the force's effort to improve its image. The government says the crackdown is aimed at rooting out corruption in the force. The move comes days after the United Nations began a review of policing in Bangladesh to help the government improve law and order. Thursday's mass retirement is the biggest ever disciplinary action carried out in the Bangladesh police department. But it did not cause that much surprise in a country where police have a reputation for being corrupt and inefficient. State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar told the BBC that all 302 officers told to leave had been disciplined three times or more for corruption during their career. Mr Babar dismissed suggestions that the action was politically motivated because most of the policemen had been recruited in 1973 by the Awami League, now in opposition.

'Unfit' police

He said the forced retirement of the policemen was part of a government clean-up campaign. "Such forced retirement is not new in Bangladesh and there is nothing wrong in it," the minister said. Reports say the authorities are also preparing a list of 30,000 policemen who are to be given desk jobs because they are physically unfit to perform active duty. Mr Babar said no decision had yet been taken on their fate. The team of assessors sent in by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) includes national and international specialists in policing and governance. It is due to complete its work by next week.

India would have done the same if we had some intense border or other issues with Bangladesh.

If India had turned out to be the new enemy then what were your options. This time you were not facing a few thousand soldiers with no air or naval support, with majority seperated by thousand kms of allied nation. Remember, we trained Muktis not the vice versa.

It's a misconception that Chinese or Americans would have supported you or Pakistan. Americans ignored your desperate cries ( Blood Telegram) and Chinese were minding their own business through out the war. They never came to rescue their Pakistani friends, so both are a big no.

And lastly Soviets were the 2nd largest power and they came for our rescue. Now do your calculations and tell me.
