Better off than America !

Yep the US has been on a downward spiral for a long time now. The shine off the US has is now long long. I can remember when the US was respected for its promotion of human rights and freedom, well in many western countries anyways. Now the US tortures, locks people up with trial, covers up the murder of innocents and has no regard for international concerns. America has lost its was big time.
The US is now at a cross roads, it will be interested to see which way it goes I reckon. The age of having the biggest guns to shore up your security is over. Clearly the most important factor in a countries security will be economic this century and beyond. The US is an old tiger that has not learnt any new tricks, old infrastructure, an out of date political system, massive economic problems, huge social problems, out of control crime...the list goes onand on. If anybody thinks the US is a modern country then you are incorrect.
Saying that though I dont believe the US is in such a bad shape as what some commentators make out. They have the best schools in the world, a very hard working ethic, a mountain of assets and a willing population of motivated intelligent people.
The US is going to learn this century it will need to radically cut back on its military and try to find its place in this new world. It will be a humbling experience for the US, its just a matter of how much the US will kick and scream as it goes down a peg or two.

Fair comments, but the bolded part has the seeds of my optimism of the US ability to deal with its many challenges.

the "american work ethic" is really overrated. you do not see how Koreans and Japanese work. 12 hour days are nothing unusual.

the US will kick and scream alot as it goes down. and thats what makes the US so dangerous. unlike the USSR, which did not unleash its nuclear arsenal when it collapsed, we can't be so sure that the US won't take a mad dog approach when it starts to break up like the Soviet Union. After all the US supported the mad dog military dictators of South Korea, South Vietnam, Chile, Iraq, Greece, Nicaragua, etc etc.

That is why having a large thermonuclear deterrent is vital against the US and why every developing country not allied to the US is scrambling to make nukes: you don't want to be bitten by the mad dog when it goes down.

Japanese work less than Mexicans. For one time, try writing a post based on actual facts...

....................

Take a look at this please, showing the number of hours worked per worker per year in many countries over the last several years:

USA is not as lazy as you would think. ;)

That's typical BF. Not a single post of his has ever made sense. Americans work surprisingly long hrs and don't get holidays except weekends and 10 national holidays.

and you mate just for one time only stick to the thread!!

But then how would your post count go up:woot: 50% of them are one liners like that...Surely, my one of topic comment has more substance than your 1000 posts combined. When was the last time you wrote anything besides bad jews, you are right brother, I support this and get back to topic?:azn:

This is PDF. I would be shocked if they were. Still I try to use facts instead of "feelings"...I know, facts hurt.

BF stands for below_freezing.

What? did I hear you wrong? I know you are basing your claim on a twisted report.

back to the topic, Japan has been leading the infrastructure for many years, way better than what we've seen in the US.

and now China is catching up, side by side with Japan in the most fascinating infrastructure in the world.
