Brahmos in coastal defence (photo : bharat rakshak)

The Philippine Navy, just like the Philippine Army, is eyeing to acquire BrahMos cruise missile system. According to MaxDefense Philippines, the Navy, under Shore-based Anti-ship Missile System Acquisition Project, is planning to acquire 3 batteries.

The Army, under Land-based Missile System Acquisition Project, is looking to acquire 2 batteries.

In December 2019, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said contract for Army’s BrahMos could possibly be signed first half of 2020.

However, COVID-19 pandemic affected many of the projects under the Revised Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program.

“The Philippine Army is interested in acquiring this type of missile as it will strengthen our coastal defense operations,” the Philippine Army said in October 2019.

So If Indonesia decide to acquire Brahmos (a copy of Russian P800), are we still going to get targeted by CAATSA??

@Indos

It is interesting to see all the hype foisted by Indian Defense establishment to try and sell this Russian missile assembled in India to 'allies' like the Philippines and now, Indonesia.

Russians only 'collaborated' with Indians to increase the sale of their P-800 ONIKS. They have and will refuse to pass on solid fuel technology to Indians, which India still doesn't know how to make, despite BS claims by Anti-Muslim Sanghis in this forum to the contrary.

Current Indian Hindutva anti-Muslim establishment has no goodwill for a majority Muslim Nation like Indonesia. They would rather see Muslims in any country drown en-masse in the sea before helping them. Look at how they banned import of Coconut oil and palm oil/olein from Malaysia after Mahathir criticised their policy. Next month it will be import bans for Indonesia, under another pretext. This is the true face of Indians.

Buying weapons from India is a waste of money. Nothing that is ever made in that country, works as advertised. Cheap is as Cheap does. Well I take it back. Maybe Becaks and smokey Tuk-tuks are okay.

Heck - two thirds of the nation of India refuse to use a toilet, that is their level of development. And some countries considering buying high-tech weapons from that country? Must be desperate.

I rest my case.

india is incapable of timely producing this missile in mass numbers to fulfill exporters needs as evident from their slow indigenous projects like tejas

Brother Tejas in indigenous in Name only.

Almost nothing in Tejas platform is made locally except maybe design, structure and body panels. Engine, sensors, radar, targeting, fire control, acquisition components are all imported or gained directly via ToT.

The project is now beyond obsolete and is more than 30 years old.

Simple, Philippines didn't get targetted by CAATSA (so why would indonesia? or anyone else)...about 80%+ of the brahmos missile is made in India.

The extra fun (about buying brahmos) part is you get heartburn from losers from loser countries for free, no extra charge! :D...a small sampler found in this thread already lol.

I believe it will be quite safe since we will be dealing with India, not Russia.

Russia has not licensed solid fuel tech for Brahmos to India. I included the link above.

Because it is the fastest cruise missile in the world:laughcry:

It's not hard for India. People forget (or simply don't know) what ISRO did way back.

Stuff their useless lot wont do in a 100+ years. They will gripe and moan though, no dearth for that. If only that could fuel something worthwhile  ...sad looking what rung their lot are stuck at wherever they go to.

Direct source is much better than the country who assemble plus the quality goes down when it comes to india.
