HIs Holiness the Dalai Lama

In a clear snub to China, West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan on Thursday attended the Dalai Lama's function in Kolkata.

The Tibetan spiritual leader was in the state capital to deliver a lecture on Mother Teresa on a request from the Missionaries of Charity.

The Chinese consulate in Kolkata had asked the government to ensure that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the governor did not attend any programme addressed by the Dalai Lama.

While the chief minister was not present at the function, her representative Derek O'Brien showered praises on the Dalai Lama.

China thought that they can scare an ex-Chief of the IB.

Paresh Baruah is in China: Centre

GUWAHATI, Nov 12 – After months of search for his location, the Government of India has finally received “concrete evidence” of presence of Paresh Baruah, the commander in chief of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in the Yunan Province of China.

Highly-placed sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) told The Assam Tribune that Baruah has been staying in China for the last two and half months along with a few of his close aides.

According to information available with the security agencies, Baruah has been running gun running from his base in China, but it is still not known whether he is receiving any direct help from the Chinese authorities. Baruah has very good contacts with those involved in clandestine gun running and he can easily get involved in gun running. Moreover, the weapons discarded by the Chinese Army as a part of the modernization drive are collected by the clandestine weapon dealers and almost all the major insurgent groups of North East are buying those weapons, sources added.

Meanwhile, MHA sources said that in addition to the ULFA, the NSCN (I-M), which is under cease-fire with the Government since 1997, is also running a small set up in the Yunan province. Senior leader of the outfit, Anthony Shimrey was arrested by the NIA when he was coming back from China. The reasons for the NSCN maintaining a base in China are yet to be ascertained, but it is believed that the base is being maintained for gun running, sources added.

India harbors Dalai lama for 5 decades ,so I think China has every right to give India a taste of their own medicine.

China assures help to rebels for fight against India
MANOJ ANAND |

The Chinese security agencies have assured to extend all kinds of support to Northeast separatist groups if they form an alliance for a coordinated fight against India.
Disclosing that a meeting of Northeast separatist rebel leaders with senior officers of Public Security Bureau of China was held in April 2010 at Ruili, Yunnan, an

authoritative security source told this newspaper that PSB officials asked the leaders of the separatist outfits operating in the Northeast to form an alliance for a coordinated armed fight against India. Pointing out that the behaviour of the PSB official was dictatorial, security sources said that most of the separatist rebel groups have been approaching China for their support.
Informing that NSCN leader S.S. Khaplang, elusive Ulfa chief Paresh Baruah and United National Liberation Front (UNLF) chairman Rajkumar Meghen besides the leaders of smaller militant groups of Manipur were present in the April, 2010 meeting, the security source said that Northeast rebel groups agreed to form a common platform on the pattern of Indo-Burma Revolutionary Front, which was formed in 1992 to avail the support of China. However, UNLF chairman Meghen, who returned to Bangladesh after his meeting with Chinese PSB official, was arrested and deported back to India and is now languishing in the Guwahati Central Jail.
The source pointed out that PSB officials reiterated that resource to engage India will not be a problem but instead of approaching them individually, they should come through a common platform. They also cited the example of Jammu and Kashmir on Western Frontier and Red Army of Maoists, which through coordinated operations, has engaged India, security sources said adding that Baruah was operating from Taka area of Burma, the hideout of NSCN Khaplang adjoining the Mon district of Nagaland.
The security source said that the presence of Ulfa chief in the area came to notice soon after he left Dhaka.

I Loved the way the Governor Replied to one of the Reporter,

He Said , " We Always Get Such Letter from Chinese Officials , But We Never take them Seriously , What can You Expect me to Do , This is a Religious Seminar Not Political "

China Should Stop Whining !

Why is China obsessed with Dalai Lama , he is a man of peace and is not even asking for separation , may be at best autonomy and preserving human rights ... He is a man of peace and China should not worry about him

This is just one of many opportunities. :azn:

Last time India tried to play around with Tibet was in 1959, and they got smashed in 1962. After which, China helped Pakistan to acquire nuclear weapons.

So now they can't even fight back against Pakistan, despite Indian crying over Mumbai. It looks like it was worth it.
