December 1 at the airport in Baranovichi was held a ceremony of a form of the Guards 1146th anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Belarusian Air Force and Air Defence (AFAD).
The commander of 1146th anti-aircraft missile regiment appointed Guard Lt. Col. Denis Zyk.
“It is an honor to head this unique military unit,” Denis Zyk said. “Our servicemen are proud of the fact that we were entrusted with such powerful and modern weapons.

The main purpose of the new regiment is to fulfill the assigned tasks for air defence. The new 1146th anti-aircraft missile regiment is equipped with Tor-M2 short-range air defence missile system. It can destroy a variety of aerial targets such as cruise missiles, guided missiles, helicopters, aircraft, guided bombs, unmanned aerial systems, and high-precision weapons flying at low and medium-altitudes.

The Tor-M2 is characterized by its high maneuverability, mobility, quick response, automation of combat operations and the efficiency of engaging a broad range of targets.
Tor-M2U is a modernisation of the Tor-M2 missile system developed by JSC Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol, a part of Almaz-Antey and based on wheeled Belarus-made chassis.
