What's new

Beijing is completely dominating the South China Sea

. .
just a metaphor for the PLA strategy , island hopping would be a more suitable phrase ..

They are merely implementing the same island genesis programs that Japan had all too keenly implemented decades prior. Why, if Japan can implement island genesis to our far flung archipelagic territories in the southeastern quadrant of Japan's maritime territory, in the name of exclusive economic zone, then i suppose in theory and in principle the Chinese have every right, as well. In fact being objective here --- if other nation states can implement such island fortification standards, then, the Chinese have the right to do so as well. Albeit, they do so in the Chinese standard of construction; grand and large. lol.

What can we expect from a civilization power that is responsible for building structures such as the Great Wall of China. The Chinese are never known for "mediocrity", but more known for 'Celestial' style construction. :)

Let them build. Let them deploy their naval assets. :)

@jammersat , you have to admit tho, its GREAT Public Relations methodology in showcasing Chinese construction abilities. Hands down.

China is not used to having foreign influence or power. They are like a kid with a new toy.

We don't need to assert ourself with military to have foreign influence or power, other nations will know who to look for as the counterweight with the big bully of this world, we will gain automatically the influence or power. And know we're not this kid with the new toy but the mature adult to make sure that some kid to play with dangerous toys in this world and make the bad loser think twice as in Korea war with the threat to Nuke China.

There is no more South Korea? Huh, I must have missed that in the news! As to China's maturity, her rattling of the nuclear sabre, her unhinged comments regarding Taiwan, her blatant lying about not militarising those island claims of her's, are all that her neighbours need know about her maturity as a regional power. It requires no analysis from me.

Many western continue to employ western-centric ideas to judge China. Can't really blame them since the collapse of commie USSR has heralded "the west has won" era where, if you want to success, the western model is it. But here, you see an eastern nation with a curious mixture of civilization + socialism + controlled capitalist mkt, etc, etc, to succeed & they go WTF?

What China has/will become is not the make-believe threat they so enthusiastically embraced, but the world has seen an alternative to governance & economic model, to which they need no longer follow the western approach in it's entirety. They can massage to their own nationalist & social idiosyncrasies & still be successful, if they proceed with caution.

Besides, China is but only one of the poles, so no need to get overly excited about our progress. There are other nations rising too.:agree:

China must fully militarise those islands and use them to dominate the SCS.

Chinese military have been neglected since Deng and only now is it starting to build up and show an aggressive intent.

I love that aggression that China has. It's long overdue.

East Asia rises....!

Vietnam controlled airspace. as per International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

EVERY aircraft, that flies over Vietnam controlled airspace or flight information region or FIRs, including those of China, must inform Vietnam air traffic control authority.

End of discussion.
