Karachi Dockyard has always been the mainstay of Pakistan Navy. The bulk of our naval assets are stationed here due to Pakistan's main maritime trading route and two big sea ports. Below is a image taken from an Indian site, who seem to be very keen in keeping an eye on our Naval inventory.

The open display of our naval assets does give us joy and pride but i hope in the future our naval assets will be equally dispersed in other bases along the Makran coast and properly camouflaged.:pakistan::pakistan:

I hope they build pens/caves for the submarines, patrol boats and frigates into the cliffs on Charna Island just west of Karachi near Hub, as well as at the cliffs at Ormara, the cliffs at Astola Island, and the cliffs at Gwadar

The two Islands especially will allow Submarines to slip into deep water quickly and return stealthy, so that enemies don't know which assets are on patrol and which are not. But these bases need to be protected with underwater nets and other sensors as well as UAV airbases to keep an eye on enemies trying to infiltrate the bases. It will especially be a potent use for the second strike capability of the Navy.

Similar to how the swedes do it

The danger of the current deployment, where all our assets are out in the open, is losing our entire navy on the first day of war.

Do we have the geography???

I looked into this a few years ago. I don't know of the composition of the rocks, but they could be re-enforced with proper concrete liners, similar to the Chinese Submarine base on Sanya, who can help us make these bases.

We do have high cliff just on the coast, in multiple areas, as well a two strategically located island that would be perfect for at the very least bases for Fast Attack Crafts, and possibly submarines.

A good article with a lot of pictures on our coastline

In fact one of the cliffs are located in Ormara inside the Naval Base, as well as on the western side of the Ormara peninsula

Here is Astola Island

Here is how quickly the water gets deep near those two island, so launching from off the coast makes submarine operations a lot easier

These bases don't need to be too big, but just right to fit our ships and submarines. We also need multiple caves per ship, so that we can play a Shell game with the enemy, and they won't know for sure where our assets are located. Especially if these bases are guarded with modern air defenses, they will have to spend a whole lot of effort trying to neutralize our navy, while our navy can safely prepare in the caves, and surge when ready

There is also the Nazi Submarine Pens in France and Germany which can be studied.

Although the diving community entrepreneurs may push back at development of Charna Island. here is a good documentary of what happens there.

We shouldn't have a lot of our warships sitting together in such high density. We obviously haven't learnt our lessons from Pearl Harbour. At least make it difficult for enemy to attack our ships in one go.

At the very least we should move our operational (not currently undergoing maintenance) out of Karachi and to a new port nearby. Somewhere near the Hub power plant would be a better option, so that our naval assets don’t get pinned down in Karachi harbor, and way from the population to prevent saboteurs from infiltrating the base as with PNS Mehran. A base with a large perimeter, adequate underwater nets, more guard posts and patrol craft should also help slow down enemy troops. Finally we need air defenses near our naval bases, but as we learned from the Tehran shoot down of the Ukrainian airlines plane, we need to be careful with military air defenses near civilian airports if possible.

I think its a peace time thats why

we need a replacement operational (non-maintaince) base for Karachi that is near Karachi.

a location near hub maybe a good option
Hub is too close. A single sortie attacking Karachi can take Hub with it (hypothetically only). Aerial distance is too less. Some thing around 200 KM from Khi would be nice.

I believe, the guys at the helm must be aware of this and would have different options available to secure the ships.

Karachi’s toxic shores are eating away at our ships and submarines, but we are unable to relocate properly due to cost and political considerations.

Pakistan Navy is working on plans to build up three fully operational naval basis in total, i.e. In Gwadar & Omara alongside already present Karachi.
