Display of India’s map without Jammu and Kashmir at the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation stall (BPC) in Kolkata Book Fair 2015 (Kolkata boimela) on Saturday drew huge criticism from the visitors.

In a prompt action, the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, however, gave directives to seal off the stall to tackle the situation.

Visitors said the India map displayed at the BPC stall of Bangladesh Pavilion did not show Jammu and Kashmir state as part of India, rather it was showed in the Pakistan map.

At first, some visitors protested the matter, which later spread to the entire fair ground.

Later, BJP’s youth organization Jubo Morcha submitted a written statement to the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission on Saturday evening.

As the visitors started demonstrating in front of Bangladesh Pavilion at night and threatened to shut down it, the Deputy High Commission gave directives to seal off the BPC stall and send back all documents, books and maps to Bangladesh.

“It is the matter of Indians’ feelings. Soon after receiving the allegation over the map issue, we’ve contacted the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission. Mainul Kabir, an official there, told us that all these happened mistakenly. After then, the stall was closed down,” said Tridib Chattopadhyay, the Secretary of the Publishers and Booksellers Guild, organizers of the Kolkata Book Fair.

A source in Bangladesh deputy High Commission in Kolkata said the Bangladesh government does not want to hurt the sentiment of Indians over its map. “It had happened inadvertently. Measures have been taken to send back all the faulty maps,” the source added. - See more at: B'desh stall sealed off over India map issue

He is a diplomat, he was just being diplomatic. I have seen maps of the region here in Dhaka and most either shows Kashmir as being disputed or being part of Pakistan. I still havent seen one where it is shown as being part of india.

Do show an official Bangladeshi Map, where entire J&k has been shown as part of Pakistan.

What do you mean an "official" map, the Bangladeshi government does not print maps, nor does it dictate which area is designated to which country on printed maps unless it pertain to Bangladesh. The offical position of the Bangladesh government is that the issue of Kashmir needs to be solved by the parties involved.

Most maps in Bangladesh is sourced from international sources which almost always show the region as disputed, the ones that have a local input tend to show either disputed or belonging to Pakistan.

The maps in the books sent to the book fair was by the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, an Bangladeshi government organisation must therefore have contain maps from Bangladeshi sources as it showed the region belonging to Pakistan.

Well what you consider isnt worth jack, really.

As expected, after 15 mins of searching online, you could not find any Bangladeshi map, where entire Kashmir was shown as Pakistani territory.

As far this map was concerned, your deputy High commissioner already accepted your mistake and claimed it was a faulty map.
