So what verities you eat. I thought this long grained less sticky verities are popular in south Asia. Such as Sella, super Kerna, basmati, sawgat, zarafa etc etc.You sell mostly upscale bashmati which has no demand in bd.
BD consumers non aromatic non sticky half boiled rice. They buy other things from us alright.
Many pakistani textile industries during power shortage move to Bangladesh. I know this current Regime is big on hatred but we have always managed things well in the past without making much fuss.

Did Bangladeshi prefer Chinese or type rice , thick grained and quite sticky and small. Like they used in Chinese cuisine and sushi etc etc.

We are self sufficient in rice. We even exported last year. But due to early flood we have a shortage this year.
Entire agriculture is around 15% of GDP.So no way only rice would be 30%.Why does Bangladesh import so much rice when it makes up 30% of its own GDP?
2 million ton import this year.Normal year production 34 million ton which evenly match with the requirement with small surplus to export..This year only 32 million ton produced due to severe flood. How much is the shortage in tonnes?
