The government has decided to ask Pakistan and the USA for information relating to the Liberation War in 1971 and evidence of war crimes ahead of the war crimes trial.

“We are going to request Pakistan and the United States to give the available documents and evidence relating to the war criminals and genocide committed during the Liberation War,” State Minister for Liberation War Affairs ABM Tajul Islam told The Daily Star today.

Such requests are being made under the International Crimes (Tribunal) Act 1973.

Although the evidence and documents Bangladesh have enough to try the war criminals, more documents and evidence are needed to make the trial acceptable worldwide, the minister said

Good Luck :enjoy: You could not find the people behind the recent BDR rebellion and here Bangladeshis wants to try 71 War Criminals.BDs should grow up.Anyway, We should still have good relations with BD as ISI still has good network there.

.
The reality is that none of this will happen. Even the BD government is going through the motions of it just because they have used this issue as a platform to get into the office and now want to show their supporters that they are doing what they can.

Cheap internal politics in BD.what a sense for pay money and waste the time on a issue which is most deference in there own history.its sounds like Pakistan ask UK and INDIA for evidence of killing in partition time .today after 40 year BD wake up from long sleep and wanna open files of hate.what a shamefully fix the matter of BDR killings first and 90s killings by BD army of rebels first.its 100% only and only for create more hate against Pakistan and Islamic party's of BD.MAM HASEENA first open files for killing of his whole family its new case then 1971.they live in 70s and today is 2009.

I dont think it will promote hate towards Pakistanis but will help in the path of reconcilliation. BD wouldnt have asked Pakistan for documentary evidence if it did intend to promote Hates towards Pakistanis. If I were a Pakistani I would have helped any investigation and if there were any to save any innocent with documentary evidence.

.
so what will we get from reopen these painfull documents?

its just a close chapter and better its closed .

I second that.

unfortunately Bangladesh has not moved on, justice is necessary for closure, I think.

In BD its not, but for Pakistan I understand. We have to live with that in a day to day basis. For instance a guy killed or raped somebody and they are still neighbour to those victim in BD. So it is very painfull for the victim who knows that the person who is roaming in front of them are the killer of their very dear ones.
I am not sure about the PK soldiers case, but they will come at last and not sure how they going to pursue those about. We have to wait and see...

if you think Pakistanis come and go its your think sir but Pakistanis lost there lives and its also painful for Pakistani people that open the files of there shaheed or dead fathers.emotions not only in BD but every were in world.what you say abut shaheeds and injured Pakistanis in 71?.

Pakistan mainly lost soldiers, Bangladesh its civilians. Hence a claim of war crimes. If otherwise, Pakistan should start a trial too.

Any loss of life is regrettable and its the consequence of all the conflicts. I saw no less honor and respect from the BD army and soldiers for the PK army who were good hearted and fallen in BD's land. The case was not intended for any combat loss where thousands of our soldiers and Muktis also lost their life as well. All will be remembered.

soldiers are sons fathers and grand fathers of some one also man.if some one call our fathers rapist killer or else what we taste that time.Pakistan already done and we don't have time for open files of before half century thanks for advise. :pakistan:

Then how about a truth and reconciliation tribunal along the lines of South Africa?

One question in my mind why all anti state elements believe Zardari is the best customer to approach in order to get almost any thing anti Pakistan!
Why can't they wait for one or two years, after all Zardari is President for 4.5 more years!

.
If the idea is to move on then it should be based on the South African model. If not then its nothing else but trying to inflict payback which obviously can go both ways and will not go very far.
