Why it is overnight? Is not it already 71 years since 1947? During this period many countries have developed that includes also South Korea whereby BD keeps on surviving on donations from China and Japan.Financing such big projects from internal resources is something which can not be done overnight. But Bangladesh is rapidly increasing it's share to finance the big projects. In the upcoming budget, mega projects will get 360 billion Taka from govt.'s own resources. Few years ago, we did not have this capability. This amount of money will continue to rise in coming years lessening the dependency on foreign loan.
Ask the govt to institutionalize the taxation system after thoroughly studying it in the successful countries, such as Singapore, Japan or South Korea. A country's economy can be as strong as its taxation system is. However, BD will be unable to do anything by itself even if it collects a $100 billion internal tax.
It will have to beg foreign companies to build its projects because local design and construction companies are not being nurtured. This is what all the successful countries did from the initial stage of development. Design work itself is quite difficult that may not be possible by BUET engineers who built the Teesta Barrage in a wrong location.
What a crap the people in BD? It is full of born imbeciles like @mb444 and @Black_cats who do not quite understand how to learn from other countries. This is why construction companies from South Korea had built our bridge when their and our economic history almost overlaps, and we are unable to do this by ourselves.
