What sovereignty in a globalised world where large Asian economies are growing at 8% plus? UK may still have some relevance now but by 2030-2040, even India would be pushing UK around with it's economy that would many folds larger. The idea of creating a new "Commonwealth" that has been branded by some Brexiteers is a joke as the UK would find little takers for this.

UK growth has been slashed because of Brexit and a "hard Brexit" may doom UK economy. IMF predicts that the French economy will outperform the UK one over the next 5 years and this has not happened for many decades.

Look at how US treated UK when Trump visited. They want Brexit so they can dictate to a weak and isolated UK. Both US and Russia are fully in favour of Brexit for their own geopolitical interests.

I did not vote in the EU referendum in 2016 as I was undecided but would now prefer a 2nd referendum on whether the UK crashes out with no deal and the consequent economic disaster that would ensure. If the public here would still like to leave the EU but at the cost of much reduced living standards then so be it - in 2016 they were promised greater prosperity by leaving the EU!

Living in the EU is very expensive, especially the 4 freedoms. At some point you have to decide if you can afford the EU Tax rate. We in the UK have decided to go for a EU Tax cut and everyone in the UK understands that it will hurt, but it is a price they are prepared to pay.

This is a divorce and people understand that a divorce hurts at first.

I do think we in the UK will be better off out of the EU as the EU is structured to support the manufacturing economies of both Germany and France. The UK is service based economy and as such gets very little support from the institutions of the EU in trade deals with other countries for this sector.. on our own, we can tailor our trade policy, custom and tax policy that best supports the UK economy and not live in a cage designed by Germany and France .....

I am not sure how much you know of EU's favourable policies towards the UK.

One such example is the passporting rights which allow any foreign company to setup their base in the UK and operate in the EU without having to pay taxes to any EU country aside from the UK. The reason many companies use this is due to English language, ease of business in the UK and access to a wider EU market.

This isn't a divorce, that is too simple an analogy. This is the most complicated unbinding of law, regulation, economy and much more to ever occur.
