Yeah thanks add to it gun powder and porcelain thank you China. sincerely hope China becomes a beacon for the future I am **** scared for my future generations regarding environment and the dreaded ozone layer us third world or developing countries should be more prudent in exploiting the environment and leave a better world for our future generations i hope India and China collectively take a lead in this and secure our future. the world is fuc**d as it is. But China is more bent on competing with the west. Wasteful in my perspective all the inventions have been done and all the harm has already been caused can you do any better....no then don't add up to the worlds woes. Think of Buddha and peace.

So what if the Chinese want to compete with the west?
The west detests China, because they see China not only as a political rival but also as cultural rival as well.
westerners have all always been jealous of Chinese achievements.

That is why Christopher Columbus went to find a new route to Asia.
And now the westerners are getting scared by publishing articles which have statements such as "China wants to take over the world."

When those statements are ludicrous and are signs of a declining and decaying society.

Even Aryan b was saying thinking that there will be a new world order within 5-10 years?

Don't you think that is too long?

The day the War on Terrorism ends, USA will become irrelevant in Asia.

Will China Again Lead the World?

A thousand years ago China was well ahead of Europe in science and technology. The Chinese were using gunpowder, paper, movable type printing and the magnetic compass. They had perfected the crossbow long before the Europeans.

But for some reason they decided not to continue the development of these and other technologies. It was only when the knowledge spread to Europe by way of travelers like Marco Polo that technology continued to advance, and Europe took the lead in technology and with it, world domination.

Today we may be seeing , depending on how you look at it, either a repeat of that process or a reversal of it. Today the technologies involved are not printing and gunpowder, but nuclear power and genetic engineering. While the West (Europe and the USA/Canada) currently has the lead in these fields, we are forfeiting it to Japan (nuclear) and China (both, but especially genetic engineering).

The Wall Street Journal March 29, 2000 had a story on the drive by China to become the world leader in genetics and the applications of genetic engineering. China has a large and growing population with increasing wealth but a shrinking amount of arable land. Heavy use of pesticides in the past has created insect pests that are resistant to them. The Chinese leadership sees genetically modified crops as the best hope of dealing with these problems.

China has been directing billions of dollars of research money into modifying the genes of crops, animals and even humans. A state-of-the-art genetic research laboratory is planned for Inner Mongolia. Such is Beijing's excitement that even its traditional suspicion of foreigners has been set aside, and seeds for GM crops are being bought from Monsanto.

And the effort is paying off. In the past year, the government of China has approved the use of a dozen new strains of rice, potatoes, tomatoes, corn and trees, all developed domestically. There is also a program to clone the Giant Panda to help save it from extinction.

Cotton on the North Plains of China had been decimated by insecticide resistant bollworms a decade ago, but is now thriving due to new insect resistant varieties of cotton plants that increase yields up to five fold.

Genetic modification offers the possibility of crops with greater nutrition, higher yields and that require less fertilizer and insecticide to grow. If this technology is going to be blocked in Europe and even the USA by various opponents, at least it will continue in China. And while a thousand years ago, ideas and goods were slow to spread across the world, today the knowledge is likely to remain available to all.

And if in a few years I can't buy the new GM seeds for my garden locally, maybe I will be able to order them from China over the internet.

Will China Again Lead the World?

i suggest you go study manderin as soon as possible.

yeah i'll about think of it, I like the Chinese in general and i have dealt with you for a decade or so, very straight forward and nationalist to the core, believe me i learnt a lot from u guys. But without proof I cannot think of u as world leaders the same would have been the case if India was in your position right now. We travel in the same boat our glory days were in the past.Present day inventions have been done by others and both of us are following it benefiting from our huge populations i hope u agree. We, both of us are way ahead then most of our western counterparts but in terms of inventions we do lag behind, I worry for our collective generations and hope we can leave a better world for them i hope China and India to a lesser extent try to be more environment friendly in our pursuit to be the greatest and not harm the world like the west has already done.

The day War on Terrorism ends, that will be end of the west.

Chins is poised to be Asia's leader.

Don't say it out loud. Indians and the Vietnamese dislike that idea very much. :D

Well, I'm just stating facts.

I wonder if China has any territorial expansion ambitions as well. Well there's North Korea at the least.

We only seek the territory that once belonged to us. :)

Beyond that, we don't need, or want anymore land. Even at the height of Chinese power a long time ago, we never took any colonies like the Europeans did.

We are already the 2nd largest country in the world by land area (link) and it already costs a fortune to defend such long borders like the ones we have.

. . .
yeah but I can't still figure out any Chinese invention other than the abacus and the ink an paper. what is it????..seriously u are best in following the west or Russia what else please enlighten me.
Yes , you can continue living in denial ... Nobody gives a damn :P
The days are well past when Chinese used to reverse engineer ( requires brains ) Russian and western hardware ... Now they are developing their own :china:

I wouldn't consider North Korea to be our territory. We do not openly seek to have bases there the way America did say in Japan or South Korea. We respected the sovereignty of both North Korea and Pakistan did we not? It is China's basic principle not to take advantage of your friends or allies. I am sure you know China well enough by now.

Am sorry, what is this thread about?

And why are we posting 8 months old articles? Doesn't China have anything new to boast about?

China declares first space docking successful
Commander-in-chief of China's manned space program Chang Wanquan announced Thursday morning that the country's first space docking between spacecraft Shenzhou-8 and Tiangong-1 space lab module was successful.

What can anyone do if you chose to remain ignorant ? :P
