Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Senate Chairman Farooq H Naek and other Parliamentarians on Tuesday donated blood under a nationwide campaign to mark the 58th birth anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
After the blood donation, the prime minister said Benazir was a leader of international stature and the best way to pay tribute was to follow her vision. “It is the responsibility of the party workers to carry forward her vision and make Pakistan strong,” he said. He asked PPP workers to donate blood generously.
“This will be used for the treatment of the personnel of law-enforcement agencies who are sacrificing their lives in the war against terrorism,” the prime minister said.
Meanwhile, Ashiq Awan said Benazir Bhutto bravely faced the militants and extremists, who were bent upon forcing their ideological agenda on the people through use of brute force.
“Pakistan People’s Party will continue fighting terrorism and extremism till its logical ends,” she said.
The minister said security forces were combating militants and rendering great sacrifices for the sovereignty and integrity of country.
“We have donated bloods for the personnel of security forces to assure them our full support in fighting terrorists,” she said.
Some other parliamentarians including Senator Hafiz Rashid Ahmed and Dr. Zil-e-Huma also donated blood on this occasion.
Meanwhile, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, daughter of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, also donated blood here at the Presidency on the occasion.
