We don't know what kind of E/O is going to be equipped on that Tactical UAV but I can assure you, it will not be limited to Day only Camera. As for your remark on SAR not weighing anything , I'm pretty sure it does.

even electrons hell, even photons weigh something according to most scientists but all the photons in the universe may not make 55kilograms. But anyway, SAR can track just about anything.. I'm thinking SAR alone should be enough to find targets, and mini gimbal has a laser pointer that can do the targeting for cirits... I think it can work


though I'm guessing there will be an AF135 or some light FLIR such as that instead.

You're not considering how quickly weight capacity can be gobbled up with the equipment and weapons you are suggesting. Anka would even have trouble with that kind of payload.. Do you even know the weight of SAR and its accompanying processing units?

Since you don't know (neither do I), it doesn't make any sense to say 'SAR doesn't weigh anything'.

What we can do is compare similar SAR systems to the one made by Aselsan, this way we get an good idea on weight instead of guessing.

EL/M-2022U equipped on Heron UAV weighs in at 114kg

EL/M-2055 equipped on Searcher UAV weighs in at 66kg

We should be content with developing a Tactical UAV that will (hopefully) be reliable, no need to add extra gadgets and weapons just yet.

If you watch the video carefully, you can see that they cut out a part right after the plane landed. Twice.

It is normal. Fligt computer software will be updated thanks to parameters collected from firstfull otonom flights. The fuselage design is changed so flight characteristics of UAV is as well. Next one will be better...
