Previously we have made animated historical documentaries on the battles of Yarmouk (http://bit.ly/2MAasKX) and al-Qadisiyyah (http://bit.ly/2QwTBvL) in our series on the rise of the Muslim Caliphate. Yet, there were many other reasons for the rapid expansion of the Rashidun realm, and the fall of the Lakhmid kingdom, which was the vassal of the Sassanid Empire for centuries was one of them. It sparked an anti-Sassanid sentiment among the Arab tribes and culminated at the battle of Dhi Qar in 609.

Lakhamids had no problem helping the Muslim Arabs against the Sassanids but the Ghassanids were different they fought against the Muslim Arabs. I think the Lakhamids knew the Muslim Arabs will take down their rivals the Ghassanids hence why they collaborated with them.
