Bangladeshi Hindus, Buddhists and Christians call on Govt for protection.

This Hindu-Buddhist-Christian unity council is actually a Hindutva extremist organization, for deception purpose they included some Buddhist and Christian useful idiots to give an impression that it is a non communal organization. But top to bottom, it is the equivalent of RSS and VHP in Bangladesh. These traitors maintain close contact with Indian Hindu extremist organizations and lobby in India to ''Take action'' against Bangladesh.

These Hindutva thugs manipulate incidence to make it look like persecution against Hindus, or outright invent persecution stories. If any Hindu girl love marriage any Muslim, this organization brand that as 'kidnapping and forced conversion of Hindu girls'. If any Hindu got robbed or mugged by any criminal, they paint it with communal brush and make it Muslim persecuting Hindus. These scoundrels even count Hindu to Hindu attack as a minority persecution. Most of their statistics of persecution are fake and manipulated. If properly investigated, at least 95 percent of those would be revealed as manipulated or outright false.

I am not denying that some persecution against minorities happening in Bangladesh. But compared to India or Myanmar, minorities in Bangladesh are living a much more secured life. No one is lynching them or branding them as foreigners. In many respectable professions, they are over represented in Bangladesh, they are over represented in civil administration and govt. jobs. Still this fifth column Hindu-Buddhist-Christian unity council is doing propaganda against Bangladesh to their foreign masters. Common patriotic Bangladeshi people irrespective of religion need to be alert about it's vicious intention.

This.

Bangladeshis should demolish these hindutva backed leeches before they eat Bangladesh's unity from inside!

Agree 100%. BD should cut the charade and do its own version of NRC.

Religious and ethnic minority leaders in Bangladesh have called on the ruling Awami League government to fulfill its pre-election promises by forming a special commission and making laws to ensure justice and rights for minorities. Before the national election on Dec. 30 last year, the Awami League (AL) said in its election manifesto that a “National Minority Commission will be formed, and special laws will be enacted for the effective protection of the rights of the minority.”

Since then AL leadership have been silent on the issue, testing the patience of religious and ethnic minority leaders. “A minority commission and special protection law are absolutely essential because existing laws of the land are failing to ensure justice and rights for minority communities,” Sajeeb Drong, an ethnic Garo Catholic and secretary of the Bangladesh Adivasi Forum, told ucanews.com. In the absence of a functional commission and law, which exist in neighboring India, minorities continue to face various forms of violence and injustice with impunity, he said. Drong was speaking to ucanews.com at a June 23 press event in Dhaka organized by the Bangladeshi Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, the largest minorities rights forum in Muslim-majority Bangladesh. The council’s secretary advocate Rana Dasgupta, a Hindu, said that despite the country being a secular state constitutionally, the reality is there has been an increase in abuse and discrimination against minority communities. The council released a report in May that showed a rise in violence against Bangladeshi minorities during the first quarter of this year. The report said there were 250 incidents including 23 murders.

There were 806 incidents of violence against minorities in 2018 including 104 forced conversions and 29 attacks on places of worship used by minorities. In 2017, there were 1,004 cases of violence against minorities. The number was 1,471 in 2016.

Supreme Court lawyer Govinda Chnadra Pramanik believes existing laws cannot protect minorities because the political will is missing in the country. “Even lawmakers from minority communities turn a blind eye when their own people face abuses and injustices,” said Pramanik, secretary of the Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance. Pramanik said that along with a commission and a law for minorities, there should be a separate fully fledged ministry overseeing all issues related to minorities. Nearly 90 percent of Bangladesh’s 160 million people profess to be adherents of Sunni Islam. Hindus make up about 8 percent and the rest belong to other faiths including Buddhism and Christianity. More than 99 percent of people in Bangladesh belong to the ethnic Bengali community. However, an estimated three million are from more than 45 ethnic indigenous groups, mostly Buddhists, Hindus and Christians.

Muslim parties exist in India and Sri Lanka. They should just built their own political parties to secure their interests. We have more than enough Islamic parties so instead of begging to AL make your own party to get something done.

TBH the minority population is too low to form their own political groups. Hindus are bigger in number but others like Buddhists and Christians forms less than 1% of the total population of Bangladesh. If minority political party is to be formed than there should be a group just like Hindu Buddhist Christian unity council and not just any Hindu party, Buddhist party or Christian party.

Also I don't think there is a need for separate minority political groups. Government can introduce ministry of minority affairs just like India and Pakistan.

Also creating minority political groups won't help to reduce problems of minorities. In India and Sri Lanka there are hate crimes against Muslims. Could the Muslim political groups stop these attacks? No.

That's exactly what I meant.

IIRC BNP did offer to introduce such a thing in the last election. Would be interesting to see if they gained any votes from the minority communities but with all the vote rigging we'll never know.

True but compared to India at least, Bangladesh is at a better status.

There is one particular flaw with the way the political parties treats the minorities of Bangladesh. That is they always drum up the slogan which is 'there is no minority or majority in Bangladesh, all are bengali'.

TBH this is a flawed ideology. In every country minority exists and in every country the position of minorities are different from that if the majority. Even in secular India and secular West you will find reservation for minorities be it religious or ethnic minorities. Even Pakistan has reservation for minorities.

Bangladeshis may try to paint every citizen as equals but the reality is different and just like every country, minority-majority concept exists in every sphere of life in Bangladesh.

So I think Hindus, Buddhists and Christians should be declared as minorities in Bangladesh and should be given reservations like the ministry of minority affairs.

Keep sentiments away and embrace the reality.

Well u don’t hear bengali Hindus getting lynched every other day like Indian Muslims...

Yeah well...how credible and transparent is a "country" with a "95% election win" in first place?

Oh foundational 3 million myth (that you get prosecuted for challenging even)?....say no more!

Yah just be in the dregs in corruption index with like a few dozen ppl (from outside) actually visiting the place in first place....anything you want can be simply "announced"...rather than actually be the case. It's why you have such a high beardo prevalence wherever you go....performing terribad in thought, tolerance and basic economic sense. The reality check always given outside BD borders where the groupthink shield and denial evaporates.

@Riyad

Your thoughts?
Why ask @Riyad? He will propose 5 wives for the Hindus in Bangladesh and on average half a wife for the Muslims. This is how this @Riyad will increase the Hindu population and cross the border with his neo-Hindus to India to offset the increasing Muslim population there. @Nilgiri will certainly help this adventure by sending millions of Canadian dollars. I wish their success.

Why all this proposal and stuff? Its long been put into action and confirmed, go find and read the whole threads about BD women "immigrating" to India if you so want to.

That is the sum total of reality. 95% of you approve and/or meekly accept it....given what even your PM clearly is.

Why you think Burma just shoved in 2 million too..with such ease?

So no millions of dollars need to be sent or strange proposals be made by anyone.....all that needed is just keep letting BD ppl be themselves.

I think I hit a nerve.

What reservations are there for religious minorities in the secular west? Ethnic minorities sure but religious? I think BNP's offer would have been interesting to implement and see. In a secular country reservations shouldn't be given on the basis of religion, ethnicity maybe but not religion. While they're are incidents of intolerance this I believe is a failure of action on the government so the answer would be to improved government policy but that might be asking too much for AL.

I don't know much about Bangladeshi Hindus but Bangladeshi Buddhists are living a quite comfortable life in Bangladesh. Being less than 1% of the total population, Buddhists have proper representation in jobs and politics and Buddhist holidays are publicly recognized.
Also after Myanmar killed rohingya muslims, the Muslims of Bangladesh did not retaliate which shows the communal harmony of BD.
