Bangladesh to buy supercomputer

He probably did 2-3 semesters of CS - altogether, I'd guess he's 'lost' 12-18 months max.
ah! Yeah, and there is no difficulties when joining abroad. In here, you can't jump into another without taking a hard exam. Which 90% of 'jumpers' won't clear.

tbf - med school isn't a breeze to get into anywhere. And in some places while the competition might be a bit easier - the costs are astronomical.

My wife graduated from a govt medical college in Bangladesh - so to get in...it was tough, but it cost her parents next to nothing for her education.

I think government med collages are always a fair deal. It's around 40k/annum in Takas.

In BD, only expense which govt. take from medical students are 300 Taka tution fee in every six months. So it translate 3000 taka in entire 5 years curriculum.Add to this is professional exam fees, three times in 5 years period. You need around 6000 taka during admission in 1st year. That's all.So maximum cost is 20k taka in 5 years.:partay:

.
In my days back to 2000 it was 310 taka annually.
200 taka hostel rent
60 taka student union fee
50 taka for library card.
Plus admission fee, plus professional exams fees.
Total expenditure around 12000 Takas.
Besides we got annual stipend around 1200 taka.

My man. Hi5

A retired CS student to a MBBS student......strange career path you have.
Its complicated. :)
I lost my interest in computers like many along with me... specially security reasearch. Later I was interested in UI/UX design but thought it was a radical career change involving too much risk...

That's pretty Cheap. :enjoy:
Well, I was talking about General category and OBC students. for SC/ST category it's free and they get stipend.

.
You are gonna love that. Hi5

o_O Is that possible? By the time he do his Post Graduation his children will be joining med school.
was able to skip some class in primary and middle school.... i had enough time to go through my interests.... most probably won't have children.... heck i have lost the love of my life and no one interest me or have got along yet.

i skipped the finals..... went for medicine instead. my friend who has been doing CS in uni now says that it;s basically whatever we did in high school in the beginning with group and solo projects to build themselves at times.

well, like i said i did spent most of my school going through my options in highschool so i could choose at the end... but i have to thank god because i got through in every thing i ever attempted to date... hence it';s okay.

med school is terrible. pffft.... barely holding up this semester,..... worth it though.

These are known one's.No one knows. Pakistan government does not provide / publish information pertaining to the use and/or presence of super-computers in the Government and/or Armed Forces. It is rumoured that a couple fo Beowulf Clusters do exist, considering Pakistan was trying to procure some Optical Switches for the backplanes as manufactured by Myricom.
But it's quite obvious being an atomic power,Pakistan would definately be deploying a high end system.

makes sense since you guys do have to carry out simulated nuke tests..... thanks!

before china made the world's fastest super computer...
back whe nthey just started making em... it wasn't china's own chip.... US sourced chips.... now though ofc its a different story.

For the last three years, China has topped the Top500 list of the most powerful supercomputers with its massive Tianhe-2. But today (20 June 2016), the Top500 group announced that Tianhe-2 has been ousted by another Chinese supercomputer, the Sunway TaihuLight. The new machine, which is based at the National Supercomputing Center in Wuxi, can perform a key benchmark test called Linpack at 93 petaflops (a thousand trillion floating point operations per second)—nearly three times the speed of the Tianhe-2.

The new rankings further solidify China’s status as a supercomputing force to be reckoned with. In addition to this new machine, the United States has, for the first time, lost its status as the country with the most systems on the list; China now has 167 systems to the U.S.’s 165.

Unlike the Tianhe-2, which used Intel Xeon chips to take the top spot, the processors inside the Sunway TaihuLight are homegrown. At each of the machine’s 40,960 nodes, the supercomputer uses a new 260-core chip, designed by the Shanghai High Performance IC Design Center.
