Bangladesh needs to mine its own coal, usa does, in fact a lardge proportion of usa's electricity is generated from coal, china does it rampantly, Bangladesh needs to get in the bandwagon to extract its own coal. These hippies should be driven off the country who oppose extracting coal.

USA and China both are large countries, they have huge space to contain the environment pollution, whereas ours is a small country which is already endangered by climate change!! Basically I'm with the coal mining but we should also have an eye on the environment pollution!!

Never mind Indian friends....BD people will not allow these projects to materialize....and again...indian bureaucratic process sucks big time....So these 2 factors are pretty much deadly combo to jeopardize this project.

I support the project but it should have been in other place i.e. Rajshahi or Rangpur!! BTW the source of coal is in Bangladesh or it will be imported??

The two projects one in Chittagong and another in Khulna were taken keepin in mind of imported coal, most probably from Indoneshia or Australia. They got to be close to the port. Thre will be coal terminal too.
The good part of it that, people from Khulna port will get their job back.

The amount of carbon emission from BD is very minimal. Even if we produce our entire need of 30,000 MW will be drop in the sea what western countries are doing through their coal fired plant.
As we dont have any other source of cheaper energy, we must resort to coal. We are polluting more being poor than what we will do after developing our economy through coal and later move to cleaner energy.

Brother, a very closer big brother of mine, well he is a current minister's jamai, he tried getting a coal plant and the extraction from coil, he told me India doesnt allow us to extract our own coal through politics. Last time when BNP tried extracting, India didn;t let them extract it through funding the movement in dinajpur. Now finally this plant is probably by ajiz khan uncle's group summit group. Only if they can get the permission for extracting coal. We have a proven resserve of more than 40 years, and our country is going through a shortage of power, government is not giving any permission for any new industry....:/

Yeah, I support the extraction of coal but the question is in which method, that can reduce the possibilities of environment pollution!! Specialist are suggesting the open cast mining!!

Also, we got to make the people in our North Western part that, they need to contribute to the national economy someway and also need to come out of constant Monga. Yes because the biggest of BAL business men will make money off it, you have no idea how much money is to be made from this, its a market of 1.2 billion every year. But so far India's strong influence on sheikh hasina is preventing this from happening. Extraction of coal and building a coal plant needs the signature of the acting prime minister.

Nahhh... Indian coals are of high sulphur and ash content. Power plant cant be fed with them.
