Bangladesh has invited Russia to invest in Ishwardi Airport to make it functional.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam discussed the issue when newly appointed Ambassador of Russia to Bangladesh Alexander Vikentyevich Mantytskiy met with him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday.

Bangladesh is firmly committed to taking bilateral relations with Russia to a higher level, the state minister said.

Also, he recalled the contributions of Russia during the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh.
The Russian ambassador said his country wants to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations with Bangladesh.

He also shared his country's commitment to expanding relations between the two countries.
The state minister mentioned that Bangladesh and Russia share the same view in various regional and international forums including in the UN to ensure global peace and security.

During the Second World War, the British government set up the Ishwardi Airport and in 1962 PIA operated the first passenger flight, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).

After the independence of Bangladesh, Biman Bangladesh Airlines ran regular flights to and from Dhaka till 1989.

In 2013 United airways resumed their flights to Dhaka, but flights to the airport were suspended in 2014, CAAB says.

this is airport ????????? really . my society's club building is bigger and more advance then this .

Why ask anybody? Just issue a international tender, those who sees a potential, they'll come.

Russia is building 12 billion usd Rooppur nuclear project just next to it. It was the reason why Bangladesh government has asked for Russian investment for the airport.

It’s not much used airport. Only has gotvrecent attention as rooppur nuclear power plant is getting built just next to it by Russia. So it is natural to seek Russian investment to upgrade the airport.

How hard it is to build a small airport ?
Not that easy to build a functional runway. The related people must understand how to strengthen the soil below the runways. Also, in the case of BD the direction of an runway must be north-south because the wind blows in these two directions all through the year. Many things are available in the civil engineering textbooks and other sources.

Please read the Table below that I got from a random Internet searching. The most important thing is the Total Design of an airport. It includes, but not limited to, civil, mechanical, piping/ ducts, electrical wiring, electronics for aviation and communications, etc.

BD can ask an experienced foreign design/ consultant Office to do all the civil and non-civil components of the design. BD does all the needed surveys including Soil Investigation works as may be required/ asked by this company. The Design Office does the designing of civil, mechanical, piping/ ducts, electrical wiring/ lighting fixtures, electronics, and supplies the drawings to the Airport Authority.

The foreign Design Office prepares the list of purchases before the civil construction starts. It must be known to the readers that most non-civil parts are embedded underground, under the runways, or in the floors, false roofs or columns of the buildings. So, these must be purchased beforehand in lots.

Competent BD companies do the civil construction parts, and all mechanical, electrical, and electronics components are installed before, during, or after the construction as per instructions provided by engineers of the Design Office.

Any successful country of today started to build complex facilities when the world was without foreign loans or credits. So, BD should start with this small airport by itself but with the help of a foreign Design Office. BD people will learn here and it will be a College of Learning.

Sorry, as a construction laborer, I should not have said so many flowery things. But, I request people here and in the govt to give due consideration to what I wrote here without prejudice against me because I am just a laborer.

Well this is not exactly rocket science. These are being designed for the last 50-60 years for large jet aircrafts. If you can design and build 25-30 story building then in theory you should be able to design the runway.

Rocket science or not, I have been unable to make you understand even a little of the difficulties to design and build all the facilities incorporating many different engineering disciplines that I mentioned in my previous post.

Anyway, good luck, please design and build the airport.

These are pretty simple CAD civil engendering work. No one sits down with calculators to do these work anymore.

So, please do them in your CAD workshop and tell the results to Hasina Bibi that it is pretty simple. She will be happy to know the simplicity of doing the design and construction that will refrain her from asking the Russian money and technology.

This is the first time I hear someone saying drafting a few drawings with CAD is the only thing needed and not the structural design ANALYSIS beforehand or the soil investigation and many others.

The suggestion is very unique and should have been applied to all structures including the Padma Bridge. But, better late than never. Please ask the govt to make full use of your long experience. It will save billions of dollars that the govt plans to borrow.

Actually you would need CAD along with an engineering degree.
I am not sure about your fetish about Hasina.
Do not quote me again. I will let you know when you can.

Many primary schools in Bangladesh also bigger than that airport. That airport was built in 1960/1970s and then went our of work. For the last 25 years, Ishwardi airport is abandoned with no aircraft movement.

But the way you have suggested building an airport just with a computer and CAD, I thought you are well-versed in STEM. Why are you then going back from your earlier position?

If you do not know something, you better learn and talk. Is not your kind of this disease has caused the people of BD to remain mentally handicapped? They cannot think and do things better than going to ME to water the debt trees. I see you are one of them.

Learning is a shame in BD but stealing the govt or other people's money is not a shame. And here you are coming with a sole CAD solution for building an airport with a shallow or no knowledge? How heculiar and hathetic!!

What Hasina you are talking about here? And who the Hell are you to say I cannot answer your stupid questions? is not it an open Forum? It is not exclusively a forum for the BAL cadres?

Idiot!!! Learn to contribute positive things in a discussion forum or just get the Hell out of here.
