Protesting Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s remark accusing the party of carrying out repression on Hindus in 2001, BNP on Tuesday said minorities were in fact protected during its rule.

“Amit Shah yesterday (Monday) told Indian parliament that minorities were repressed here during the BNP government. We strongly protest it,” said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

He further said, “We can loudly say the interests of minorities were protected here during BNP’s government. Torture on them (minorities) has never been as much as it is during the Awami government.”

Fakhrul came up with the remarks while speaking at a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.

While speaking in Lok Sabha on the Citizenship Amendment Bill on Monday, Shah criticised the BNP government and listed a number of instances of gang-rape of Hindu women and attacks on Hindu houses and temples in October, 2001.

Fakhrul also opposed the Citizenship Amendment Bill, which was passed in the Lok Sabha last night, as Muslims migrants were branded as illegal inhabitants of India in the law, and they were made ineligible to get the country’s citizenships.

Fakhrul criticised the government for what he said its failure to resolve the Rohingya crisis and mobilise international support to force Myanmar to take back its citizens.

He said the government is also not strongly raising voice at the international levels against genocide and persecution carried out by Myanmar on Rohingyas.

The BNP leader said the Gambia filed a case with International Court of Justice seeking action against Myanmar for the crime of genocide, but Bangladesh government has no role in this regard.

On one hand you say that Hindus and muslims living togather is the greatness of Bangladesh and on other hand you say that India is a multi ethnic mess. So if the same is in BD, it is great. If that is in India, it is multi ethnic mess. So choose either of the two. If Hindus and Muslims living in BD is great than It is great in India too. If India is multi ethnic mess than BD is too a multi ethnic mess.

And Biharis are recent Immigrants as per your psot. You are either Joking or you are drunk right?

IK failed to make him happy. Now let us see whether BD is able to do that?

Momen bins Indian’s allegation over minority torture in Bangladesh

DHAKA, Dec 11, 2019 (BSS) – Foreign minister Dr A K Abdul Momen today ruled out allegations raised in Indian parliament that Bangladeshi minority communities were being tortured and feared the neighbouring country’s proposed citizenship law could rather affect its historic character as a secular nation.

“It’s not true that torture on minority is taking place in Bangladesh,” he
told reporters this afternoon as approached for comments on the allegations
made by the Indian Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Lok Sabha, the lower
house of Indian parliament.

Momen added: “Whoever gave them the information, it is not correct.”

The foreign minister simultaneously added that the “Citizenship Amendment
Bill, 2019” passed two days ago in Lok Sabha could weaken the country’s
“historic position” as a tolerant and secular country.

“India is historically a tolerant country which believes in secularism . .
. their historic position will be weakened if they deviated from that,” Momen
said emerging from back to back meetings with Japanese ambassador and US
ambassadors in Dhaka Naoki Ito and Earl R. Miller.

He added that Bangladesh and India were currently were enjoying close
friendly relations “that is termed as ‘golden chapter'” of bilateral ties and
“so, naturally our people expect that India won’t do anything that could
create anxiety among them”.

Momen said Bangladesh maintains strong religion harmony and ensures that
followers of all faiths enjoy same rights in every area including the job
sector.

“Many important decisions of our country are taken by persons belonging to
different religions . . . we never judge anybody by their religion, we treat
all as Bangladesh citizens,” he said expecting the minority community
representatives to echo his remarks.

Shah, who also heads India’s ruling BJP, claimed that torture on Hindu
communities in Bangladesh alongside Afghanistan and Pakistan were taking
place, as a fierce debate was underway for nine hours in Lok Sabha on the
bill which eventually was passed amid protests from opposition parties and
various groups.

Momen said during his meeting with Miller, the US envoy expressed as well
his country’s concern about the Indian bill as they believe in religious
freedom.

“They (USA) are being critical about that . . . they believe India weakened
its position by doing it (passing the bill),” he said.

US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) sought sanctions
against Amit Shah and other principal Indian leadership if the bill was
passed by both houses of Indian parliament describing the draft law as a
“dangerous turn in the wrong direction”.

Your words don't make one iota of sense...

In Bangladesh Hindus and Muslims live together in Harmony, even recent immigrants like Biharis have been integrated into society (we are creating a special town for older Bihari folks, see thread).

Rohingya have gotten a special island with organized housing and communal farming.

Meanwhile India divides its population along religious lines.

What in Lord Parshuram's name are you talking about??

I agree. The countries humanitarian efforts have been greatly undermined and bad mouthed. We have been accepting, sheltering, feeding Rohingyas since the 1990's when the Rohingya plight only just
gained some momentum in 2009 ish, which is laughable. We have housed Biharis and given them a fair game despite what people say and many of them are integrating well.

BJP is realisjng its lifelong dream. A country so fractured won't be able to move forward. No nation in the history has ever been able to move forward from such a messy political environment. Ambanis need Modi in power almost at any cost.

DHAKA, Bangladesh

Bangladesh denied allegations by India that it had tortured minority communities, the state-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha news agency reported on Wednesday.

"It’s not true that torturing minorities is taking place in Bangladesh. Whoever gave them the information, it is incorrect," the report quoted Bangladesh's Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen as saying, following a meeting with the U.S. ambassador in Dhaka.

Touting longstanding religious harmony in Bangladesh, Momen claimed that his country "maintains strong religious harmony."

He assured that members of all ethnic communities in Bangladesh enjoy equal rights in all areas, including employment.

Prioritizing the identity of Bangladeshi citizens, Momen added: "Many important decisions of our country are taken by persons belonging to various religions, we never judge anybody by their faith."

Momen also warned India of weakening its historic character as a secular state through the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill passed by the lower house of India's bicameral parliament on Monday.

"India is historically a tolerant country which believes in secularism, and its historic position will be weakened if it deviates from that," Momen said.

‘Anti-Muslim law’

The bill aims to protect non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who have faced religious persecution, India Today reported on Wednesday.

"Under the bill, any person belonging to the Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi or Christian faith from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, or Pakistan will not be considered an illegal immigrant if the person entered into India on or before Dec. 31, 2014," it added.

Calling the bill unconstitutional and an affront to Indian's secular values, critics have blasted it as a step to marginalize Muslims in India led by the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Indian opposition Congress party opposed the Bill and "even hinted that it could approach the Supreme Court if the bill is cleared in Parliament," India Today report added.

Momen also said that during the meeting, U.S. Ambassador Earl R. Miller expressed his concerns about the bill.

The U.S. is being "critical," believing India has weakened its position by passing the bill, he added.

Describing the bill as a "dangerous turn in the wrong direction," the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom urged sanctions against Indian Interior Minister Amit Shah and other principal leadership if the bill is passed by both houses of India’s parliament, Momen added.

I regularly have conversations in person with Indians living in the USA. A lot of them believe and claim that India has fully eradicated corruptions. According to them, there is no longer corruption being practiced in India. It tells a lot about the magnitude of propaganda unfolding in Indian domestic media which can only be compared with fascist propaganda machines which turn people into undead zombies. They are living in a fake bubble which is cleverly constructed by corporate mafias like Ambanis.

Yes lets blame Pakistsni generals and ignore hatred Bengali muslims have for their hindu bengali cousins.

Bengali muslims were first one to rise against hindus and were front runners in muslim league.
Look what we have here guys? Nigga ready to suck off Hindus some to save them from persecution

Modi is rock star among the NRI. Unfortunately he is seen as a savior of India who will put India back to its ancient glory it supposedly had. The are buying each and every political move he is making without taking a long in-depth view of his action since he got elected the first time. They are buying the theme that India since independence has been on the wrong trajectory, therefore it will take some time for the country to get back on its glorious path. He is seen as the golden child who can't do no harm. Some actually love the idea that he is sticking it to the Muslims in India.

They are in for a rude awakening

India always boasted that it is multi-cultural. It has every major religion living in harmony (debatable). It was a very delicate balance and maintained by Congress very cleverly.
And now Modi has just ripped every thing apart. If they are aiming for Hindu Rashtra they will get it but they have give something in return.

Congress understands the fragility nature of the Indian union. I think that is why Congress did all that delicate balance. A right wing Nathuram Godse killed Gandhi for supposedly Muslim appeasing. The Hindu right wing still seeking vengeance for the hundreds of years of Muslim rule in India.

The right wing is disseminating the revisionist theory that India welcomed all the people to India for which India paid the price of hundreds of years of subjugation. These right wing nutcases simply don't understand in those days if you appeared weak, you get taken down regardless of nationality, ethnicity, religion or race. When the Moguls were weak same fate happened to them also.

Modi is being played by the likes of Ambani. Why on Earth Govt will take cash/liquidity which is the lifeblood of Indian economy out of circulation ? People could not conduct business being cashless while BJP leaders and fatcat business people were given the access to new bills. Someone with a half brain would understand that you can't run any country without cash for weeks.

These Hindutva idiots don't realize that by 'normalizing' hatred, they are opening the doors to further extremism and intolerance. Indians will be pitted against each other (not just non-Hindus, but even among Hindus), North against South, Brahmin against Shudra, Dark and against light-skinned.

I see the disintegration of the Indian Union coming up sooner rather than later.
