A research paper can't be a standard of Education. It just proves India is in the right path. Indian Education system is way lower specially Bengali one. Counting of thesis to produce a rank is just ridiculous. Why! If you got money, and you are from a **** university you can have your thesis,how bad it may seem and there comes your epic fail thesis. A research publication may not FOR YOU mean any progressive indicator for education, but for all countries worth its salt in Science is the primary indicator apart from derivatives like h-Index or c-Index. And any publication in a dime-a-dozen conference is not counted. Journals and Publications in International conferences which are thoroughly peer-reviewed only make a mark here. Like the mentality that you have, you CANNOT buy your way out of patents in our part of the World. Heck, my Advisor in IIT had a wait-period of close to 4.5 years for getting it even moving and obtaining review comments on them. All in all, India is head-and shoulders than other states (with the exception of Iran) in its neighbourhood simply because it has caught on with the rest of the developed world in making S&T its priority.

Now, to your second statement, that non-indigenous usage of military products imply that India has lacked progress in Science. Do you know how lame that sounds ? First, India has a lack of a quality military-industrial complex which HAS LITTLE RELEVANCE to the output in Fundamental Sciences. Producing a Decent Turbojet engine, or an Avionics suite or FBW systems as also for Manufacturing ACs(Not an Air Conditioner mind you, An Aircraft Carrier) requires decades of setting up and trial-and-errors with fine-tuning at every stage for a good product, which again is not correlated to the publications it produces in Fund. sciences. That being said, India is again head-and-shoulders in Natural sciences, including Nuclear physics, Biochem. and the result is there to see in the form of the Nuke-Sub that we produced or the number of Pharma companies in India. All in All, as i said, BanglLand has a loooong way to go even before it looks up to India, and that begins in investing in the right areas of education to make that progress.

My friends have been directly selected ONLY on the basis of the IIT tag. THAT's IT. And most of us do not really go to Europe or Japan but US, because that is where the real progress of Technology lies, not in Germany. US outweighs Europe and Japan put-together when it comes to Tech. Every product you use today, whether it be the Net, the Social Media or even a simple wireless thingamabob has its origin here, in the US. Damn, if this is the quality of the Bangla education, then they have a long way to catch up.

Pakistan, Bangladesh don't have double standards. We say it straight and clear. Bangladesh got deals with India. Agreed. But so is with China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. Even with USA, though with Russia a little fall but Military deals with Russia on rise. But the main reason of Indian disaster is because of it's foreign meddling. We saw how much India got humiliated in Nepal Raja expel, in Sri Lanka Tamil exodus and not to mention Soviet India meddling of Malaysia. This is what the main damage done to India.
