Bangladesh Railway to add 200 coaches soon

There will be no factories invested in locally to make meter gauge coaches because Bangladesh will completely convert to Broad Gauge nationwide in about ten years, the conversion process is already in motion. Engines and coaches bought for meter gauge now will be obsolete and used up in that time-frame.

Well India sets up coach factories for India's demand and scale.

You can set up coach factories at a much smaller scale and in reduced automation style, which can still be profitable. Or for govt. factories - self supporting.

I cannot fathom that even 47 years after independence, we haven't even explored this investment option, even on a limited assembly basis.

Also - these same factories can make metro rakes, for which there are urgent needs across the country.
Ty for the informative post. It is good to know it is possible to set up shop as needed. I think the Govt can set up a factory for this, but not sure why they haven't done so yet.

If they get one , they better let Shena Kollan Shongshta run it, otherwise it will be another money sucking Govt waste.

My thoughts exactly.

All coach/locomotive factories in operational todayin India were set up after independence. British policies did not allow for any significant localization to protect British rolling stock industry.

Blaming British for your own failures, blame British when it suits you. Be grateful if it wasn’t for the British you wouldn’t have this huge country of many different backgroubds, states joined to form as one. And built railaways and what not.

What? It is to our credit that we built our own rolling stock factories for our need.

It's not our fault (and certainly not British fault) that you imbecile LDC bunch couldn't come up with any other industry other than those sweatshops...

Now shut up & stitch some more underwear.
