Where he comes from? I seen him once after BDR carnage and now he is the new army chief. Anyone knows more about him?

I was hoping General Sinah Ibn Jamali would have been our new army chief.

Why Ibn Jamali? Mubin was PSO to the prime minister and by custom PSO is the next waiting COAS.

I like Jamali.
Anyway so I assume you know him personally. Where in habiganj? I would appreciate if you can provide me with his exact location.

Nevertheless It's bring a smile into my face knowing fact that shorty MUA dalal has departed to wasteland. I hope Mubin is a hardcore so that he can add some serous teeth to our military.

Gen Mubin was GOC of 24th infantry div in CTG before appointed as PSO in 2008. He had replaced MUA 1/11 partner in crime gen Masududdin (now HC in AU).

Gen Mubin I guess graduate of pre BMA. If anyone knows his professional background and training please post.

But for soon to be ex army chief Moeen U Ahmed. There is one phrase that come to mind "hang him high".

Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division Lt Gen Abdul Mubin has been appointed as the Chief of Army Staff, sources in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said.

He will replace the current army chief General Moeen U Ahmed, who took a leading role in backing the last caretaker government that lasted for two years and culminated with the general elections on December 29, 2008.

Appointed as the chief of staff on June 15, 2005, Moeen had his service extended by a year on April 6 last year after his three-year eventful tenure. He was elevated to a four-star general in 2007. Moeen will retire from service on June 14.

Hailing from Kishoreganj, Mubin was made PSO of the Armed Forces Division from major general rank on June 4, 2008. He was general commanding officer of Jessore and 24th Infantry Division in Chittagong.

Son of Major Baseth and an ex-cadet of Mirzapur Cadet College, Mubin was commissioned in November, 1977 as an infantry officer from the third Short Course of Bangladesh Military Academy.

Only three officers senior to him are still in service and two of them are now posted outside the country. They are Peace Keeping Force Commander Lt General Zahir, Quarter Master General Lt General Jahangir, and High Commissioner to Australia Lt Gen Masud Uddin.

Mubin made a televised statement on the night of Feb 27 to clarify that the "general amnesty" the government had declared during the Feb 25-26 BDR mutiny did not mean that rebel border guards involved in killings, arson and other crimes would be forgiven.

Daily Star.

The era of PMA graduates in Bangladesh Army is finished, with the last one being Hasan Mashud Chowdhury. Abdul Mubin is BMA graduate.

Well not sure about that Kisoreganj. I know his younger brother from Madhobpur/Habiganj and he is basically from Habiganj. How Kisoreganj came here, not sure. But kisoreganj and Madhobpur are border Upazilla. Or may be he has houses in both upazilla. Who cares he is a Bangladeshi.. thats about it.

I am a bit confused. What was he as a PSO? Was he the CGS, MGO, MS, or QMG?

The news reports state that he was PM's PSO which is misleading. PMs and Presidents have Military Secretaries and not Principle Staff Officers so I am a bit confused. If this gentleman was a MS to the PM of BD then how was he made the Chief? That would be a massively political move.

Secondly, is Lt Gen his new rank or is he 4 star now (Gen)? Usually MS are Maj Gens and not Lt Gens.

Just trying to understand this appointment.

Well you could say PSO as like military secretary, but in BD it is customery to make the waiting Chief as the PSO to the PM first. He will be 4 star(Gen) when he takes the office of Chief. He is now 3 star.

He is from my father-in-laws home district of Kishoreganj. There are a lot of Kishoreganj people in powerful positions right now.
