Bangladesh Navy to get 1 Billion dollar credit from China

Depends on price, are they priced in the region of $275m each?

We are already getting 2 Type 056 plus more to be built locally, 2 Large Patrol Craft plus more built locally and 2 training submarines with 2 further modern subs possible.

I only asked since the pricing of the export type 054A should be in line with BN's budget. The F-22P frigate (Export version of Type 053H3) that was sold and TOTed to PN costed $175M US while the domestic type 054A costs ¥ 1.58 billion=$254M US a piece to make.

What I have seen from the export model so far is that, it is just like the Type 056 that BN received in that there is very little ASW capability, but is intended purely for the purpose of ASuW and AAW. It lacks the towed line array sonar (TLAS) and the variable depth sonar (VDS) used for the long range detection of subsurface contacts (though the bow sonar is present in the model) like the kinds installed on the PLAN's Type 054A and Type 056A.

It is also missing type 562 acoustic countermeasures system (sonar decoys) and offensive ASW weapons such as the twin WHHH003A Rocket propelled depth charge launcher, XJQ-004A torpedo launcher and most likely the Yu-8 anti-sub missile that is housed within the VLS system.

So if BN is intending on using the export model of type 054A as a fleet air-defense FFG (which makes sense as BN does not have much sub-surface threats the way PLAN faces), you can be sure that the cost of the ship would be quite lower than that of the domestic version of Type 054A. So $254M-costs of all ASW related components+some $$ for CSOC/CSSC to make a profit, $275 a piece should be able to cover it nicely.:victory::D

P.S. Here's some info on PLAN's sonar systems:https://clashofarms.com/files/PLAN_Towed_Array_and_Acoustic_Decoy.pdf

Bhai puchha hi tha tum to bura man gaye.

He didn't interpret it in any wrongful way, you are just being too overly sensitive regarding this matter. China's only trying to enhancing regional stability by promoting peace through strength doctrine to fellow South East Asian countries.

The export versions of the type 054a look very good, but i am not sure Bangladesh needs quite yet, maybe in the next 5-7 years. Right now we have concentrate on inducting the 2 Large Patrol Crafts and building additional 6-8 in Bangladesh, inducting the 2 Type 56 corvettes and building additional 4 more in Bangladesh, inducting the 2 training subs plus building the new sub base.

Once that is done we can buy those frigates, may be jointly develop with China updated versions of the Large Patrol Craft and Type 056B.

Within this year or next year BD Navy will get these too

Jiangwei II class FFG (2)
Hamilton class FFG (1)
Minerva class FSG (4)

I am not that sure on the Minerva news yet, but if they are joining the coast guard it unusual Coast Guard getting corvettes and navy getting Hamilton cutters? Its still a lot less then Myanmar, they are a third our size and they have designed and launched stealth frigates, OK we don't know how good they are but still they've managed far more then Bangladesh and Pakistan.

better take care of those ships! ;-)

Yes Minerva class for Coast guard. Lets make a thread on MM navy vs BD navy. See who is strong. Are we going at war against a country or deterrence. BD military is looking at all options. Pirates and smugglers are also our headache. Military is building from nothing. And political dilemma keeping us behind.

I haven't a clue what the aims and objectives of navy is right now? Example what are the type 56 for ASW, ASuW or OPV? Why convert a dedicated coast guard cutter to a frigate and give it to the navy? Then buy navy corvettes and give them to the coast guard?

Every nation that has a navy has a duty to build the minimum deterrence within there capacity. Right now BD priority is to protect the resources in Bay of Bengal within its EEZ, prevent piracy, deter aggression and provide search and rescue.

Given its allotted resources that's a tough ask.

As you shown in the Navy thread our sea area isnt suitable for the Sub warfare so Type 56 can go well without ASW capability. Maybe Navy is looking at that option.

1. Navy's aim is to become blue water navy.
2. Navy got cutter for long range operation, US does not permit to arm it. Even it is not armed, it can be used for long range amphibious assualt

wrong info

Really, why? What are the armament then.

So Subs can perform well in 10-20m depth?
1. because USA does not want someone have long range warship. no armament, most probably it will be used to carry troops at long distance for amphibious asssualt.
2. at sundarban area, there are some places where sea depth is about 200m and don't forget our actual sea area is upto 239nm (443km) from land, not just around coast line
