Bangladesh hands over five terrorists to India

Five terrorists belonging to Manipur and Nagaland-based extremist outfits were handed over to Assam Police by Bangladeshi police after they completed their 13-year jail term in that country, a police official said.
“Bangladesh police handed over the five militants to Assam Police through the Sutarkandi border (in Karimganj district of Assam) on 7 November. Now these militants are being interrogated by Assam Police and intelligence officials,” said Karimganj police chief Gaurav Upadhyay.

He said that the Bangladesh police told the Assam police that the five were arrested at Kulaura border in Bangladesh’s Sylhet district with some explosives in 2004 and were since in a jail there.

“The guerillas, all aged around 40, however, told the police interrogators that they are not militants,” the police official said.

The Assam Police would soon hand over the five to the Manipur and Nagaland Police. Of the five, four are belonging to Manipur’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) while the remaining one’s identity was not yet known.

Bangladesh had earlier handed over several top northeast India militants to the Indian authorities including banned United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) leaders Anup Chetia (2015) and Arabinda Rajkhowa (2009) and outlawed All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) supremo Ranjit Debbarma.

Four Indian northeastern states – Tripura (856 km), Meghalaya (443 km), Mizoram (318 km) and Assam (263 km)- share a border with Bangladesh. print

Why? Hasina is doing her job perfectly where she is. No extradition request for her at all . She needs to ensure as many BD people get sent to hell next year to make sure she stays in power in the upcoming election. This is mutually win win for India and BD.

If a wanted criminal in India gets caught in BD then if India requests him to be transferred to India then he'll be sent there according to legal procedure. Same with BD. The one behind seven murders in Narayanganj, Bangladesh got caught in India. Upon BD's request he was sent back to BD within a short time. The shame is that guy is still not hanged.

Nope. They would still get jailed. But they wouldn't be sent back to India. I think Anup Chetia was jailed in BD in 1997. But BNP and AL too didn't send him back to India. Eventually he was sent to India in 2013. But you guys released him within 2 years.

If a wanted criminal in India gets caught in BD then if India requests him to be transferred to India then he'll be sent there according to legal procedure. Same with BD. I know all this. Just rubbing some more extra-butthurt into some BeeDee who wants his country to be some terrorist haven (and is even capable of such in today's environment), as though Gulshan wasn't warning sign enough.
