Thailand = 513,120 km² , Population = 68 million

Bangladesh = 147,570 km², Population = 160 million

Indian NE = 262,230 km2, Population = 40 million by 2011 census

China Yunan province= 394,000 km2, Population = 46 million by 2010 census

So how come?
MM has 4.5 times more land than BD
1.3 times more land than Thailand
but still less population than both. These are MM's immediate neighbors. So there should be some correlation. MM either massacred those people or no civilization ever set foot there? Or all people migrated neighboring countries.

Okay there may be little similarity with BD and MM. But much with Thailand. Same types of people and terrain. Also MM is 2.5 times more bigger than Indian NE and 1.7 times more bigger than China's Yunan province. But still MM has only 10 million or so people more than them. Can you explain this? No thanks, Im not expecting any better.

Because we don't overpopulate ourselves. That's one of our strengths and why we have traditionally had an emphasis on defense.

You have to remember that your country is one of the most overpopulated on the planet and to have the population of Russia in a country the size of Scotland is why you are so poor.

Very true. Those silly sanctions on our banks in turn with our crazy capital controls are a real hindrance. That we are powering through regardless is a testament our potential.

It is likely that the Americans would remove those until they are satisfied with the results of the upcoming elections in Myanmar.

What defines their version of 'satisfied' is a difficult question. We experienced the same back in the Pakistan days, and in the 80's-90's.
