Youngsters Shamsunnahar, Tahura Khatun and Anai Mogini enjoyed a goal-spree as Bangladesh U-15 women’s team thrashed Malaysia 10-1 in the inaugural match of the Jockey CGI Youth Football Tournament 2018 in Hong Kong Friday morning.

Attacking trio Shamsunnahar, Tahura and Anai netted a brace each while Anuching Mogini, Nilufar Yeasmin Nila, Sajeda Khatun and Shamsunnahar Jr added one apiece.


Bangladesh’s sheer dominance in the game started when Sajeda broke the deadlock in the 13th minute before Tahura struck twice in seven minutes. Shamsunnahar bagged her first in the 21st minute before grabbing her second 56th minute.

Anai notched her first in the 24th minute before adding the other in the 68th minute. Shamsunnahar Jr, Anuching and Nila extended the lead, scoring in the 37th, 46th and 70th minute respectively. Malaysia’s consolation goal was scored by Gemini in the 53rd minute.


Bangladesh girls will face Iran in their second match Saturday before taking on host Hong Kong the following day to conclude their campaign in the four-nation tournament. After each team play each other once, the top finisher would clinch the title.

Following the game, Bangladesh head coach Golam Rabbani Choton said, “The girls are playing superbly and gave their 100% effort against Malaysia. Three players made their debut in this game – Shohagi [Kisku], Munni [Akter] and Rumi [Akter]. They played a fantastic game, along with their team mates. Our team made a good start. Now we will take each match as it comes. We will try our best to win.Our next match is against Iran. They are a strong team. We are serious about our next game. We will try to continue our winning streak in the next match. Please pray for us.”

Debutant Shohagi said, ” I am very happy with this big win in my first international game. We have to be very careful in our next game against Iran. I will try to give my best effort.”

I agree. These are only under 15 year old kids. These Malaysian kids went to Hong Kong to play a competitive game. While I am happy to see Bangladeshi kids win the match, 10-1 is a little too much. Maybe Malaysian team loosened a lot after they lost of hope of winning which in turn made the gap a lot wider.

Sometimes it's just not your day. Remember how Brazil got hammered by Germany in the world cup. Someday one team can do no wrong and the other get's royally punished. but the BD team deserves all the applaud. They literally took Malaysia's team to the cleaners.

Neymar was basically pulling the team up until that match... also Julio Caesar is an idiot, didn’t expect that from a former World Cup winner.

Striker Saraban Tohura and defender Shamsunnahar Jr scored a hattrick each as Bangladesh trounced Iran 8-1 in their second match of the Jockey CGI Youth Football Tournament in Hong Kong yesterday.

The Mogini sisters, Anai and Anuching, shared the other two goals for the girls in red and green, who are 44 places behind the Iranians in women's FIFA rankings.

Tohura started the rout in the very first minute and completed her hattrick within the half-hour mark before Anai scored the fourth. Shamsunnahar scored the fifth in the final minute of the first half and completed her hattrick 23 minutes after the break while Anuching got herself on the scoresheet on the 77th minute. Iran scored a consolation goal in stoppage time of the second half.

Coach Golam Rabbani Choton was quite content with the team's performance. “I am very pleased with our overall performance and certainly the two results. I am looking forward to the final game against Hong Kong,” he said after the match.

“I am very happy for scoring in all the matches. We will give our full effort in the last match against Hong Kong and clinch the title for Bangladesh,” said Tohura.

A draw in their last match against the hosts would see Bangladesh emerge champions in this four-nation invitational tournament.

Bangladesh and Hong Kong have six points each from two games, but Bangladesh have a goal difference of 16 against Hong Kong's 2.

Bangladesh started their campaign with a 10-1 win over Malaysia on Friday.
