Comeon there is no need for this silliness!
Yeah, the other poster was being ridiculous in describing Bangladesh as prosperous but at least he was accurate in saying that it is stable.
As for that comment about being scared of Pathans, well I am sure that anyone with a cursory interest in the history of the sub-continent would know that Bangladesh really could not have taken a much more different course than having to "put-up" with Pakistan due to the way that partition had happened - India was implacably opposed to a separate Pakistan. It took at least a couple of decades of blatant misrule from West Pakistan for East Pakistan to realise that it would have to go it alone and it has.
When compared to how the country was in 1971, it is now a country of hope in 2011. It can look forward to fast GDP growth, decimation of poverty at a very quick rate(both due to high GDP growth and the large amounts of money that the BD goverment spends on the social safety net) and the enlarging and creation of new industries to provide jobs and employment of it's population.
Why are people still fighting. We should give credit where it is due. Bangladesh surely a steady and confident economy now. And they have done better in anti poverty scheme than us.
May be because it is small hence easier to manage and target the schemes. Whatever may be the case, we should learn from them.
