BD people cry when India stops sending Onion. Rice, Wheat and others essential. When our consumers cry over the shortage you are here to ask the GoB not to import from India.

Bangladesh should diversify her import sources to reduce dependence on India. Countries like China, Vietnam, Thailand, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and Pakistan also produce agricultural products. We can import essentials from them.

Do not you really understand that shipping costs go up if the distance is longer? Will you pay the extra money?

India sends goods via land/ railway ports. The cost is very low. Why zholden BD cannot even produce agriculture goods for its consumption?

Paying extra shipping cost, which is minuscule, is much better than depending on India for agricultural product. We cannot just be India's handmaiden for the eternity. Either we grow more agricultural products or we import them from friendly countries who would not try to control our domestic market.

Maybe you are not getting it into your thick head. Extra shipping cost is acceptable to me but humiliation by the Indians is not.

Exactly, this has nothing to do with being friendly to Indian citizens, which remains at normalcy levels unless proven otherwise.

The issue is fairness in trade - which does NOT exist currently.

We have to level the playing field and on an even keel, things have gone unchecked for almost fifty years.

An alternative to supporting imports from India in Bangladesh must (and will) be found. There are plenty of low cost countries who export agricultural products. Examples are Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and of course - Pakistan.

It is well known that Indian traders and govt. try to control our market, no other country does. That is not acceptable.
