Star Report

Bangladesh ranked seventh in the Lonely Planet's Top 10 “Best Value” travel destinations for 2019, which showcased the top ten places for affordable adventures, UNB reports.

Lonely Planet, the world's largest travel guidebook publisher, said Bangladesh “creates astonishingly few ripples given everything it has to offer” and focused on the country's diverse and exciting cities.

It also added that Bangladesh had always been an inexpensive country for tourist and had many things to offer, such as “Asia's longest beach (and an emerging surf scene) at Cox's Bazar, and the mangroves and wild tigers of Sundarbans National Park.”

The travel publisher also highlighted Bangladesh's numerous Unesco World Heritage sites, such as the historic city of Bagerhat and the Buddhist ruins in Paharpur.

The report concluded by mentioning that visitors are a rarity, giving Bangladesh an “out there” feeling that is harder to find in many neighbouring countries.

As such, none of Bangladesh's neighbours -- India, Myanmar, and Pakistan -- were mentioned in the report, with the Maldives being the only other Asian country appearing on the list.

Egypt's Southern Nile Valley topped the rankings, followed by the ambitious post-industrial city of Lodz in Poland and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park of the USA.

The Maldives and Argentina ranked 4th and 5th consecutively.

Albania, Slovenia, and Ecuador complete the affordable adventure index's list.

The UNB report added that the Bangladesh government had taken different initiatives to attract international tourists as well as to raise awareness among the locals on tourism's actual and potential contribution to sustainable development.

1. Pakistan is not a neighbor is it ?

2. Given the numbers of foreign tourists that visit places like India, Maldives and Myanmar it's not a wonder why they're not listed in "Best value for money" destination.. Bangladesh is one of the least visited nations per capita on the planet, So invariably it will be very affordable for those seeking alternate destinations

2500kms distance. Border to Border.
The obsession is quite apparent.
Neighbor does not mean only attached border. All south Asian countries are neighbor to each other. Because this region historically, culturally, geo-politically closely knitted together since ancient times. This region is isolated from neighboring region with formidable mountain, ocean, desert and jungle with minimal interaction. So, Kyrghyzstan or Oman may be closer to Pakistan distance wise, but nobody in the world is going to lump together Pakistan with those countries. They will always compare Pakistan's performance with that of India, Bangladesh, Nepal or Sri Lanka. This is how world see it.

And talking about obsession, you should check out your own electronic and print media, how many times they compare Pakistan's performance with India or Bangladesh rather than with Afghanistan, Tajikistan or Iran. So, ''obsession'' if there is any is not a one way street.

So how are your neighbours doing over in Paraguay?

Khyber, Gomal and Bolan are the three passes that lie at the end of central Asian territory including Iran and Afghanistan. The border of old-time India/Hindustan starts at the east of these passes. however, many Pakistanis (Punjabis) are obsessed with the countries in the west of Punjab. But, while the Punjabis are basically Indian, the Pathans are not, although they played a very great role in the old-time Muslim politics of India since 1020 AD at the time of Sultan Mahmud of Gazhni.

Says someone from a country which is founded upon hating India and blames all its failures on R&AW. Please look in the mirror.

You see, no country is flawless. Stop trying to kick up a stink when its uncalled for.
