All the demagoguery in NE India about "illegal Bangladeshis" is actually directed towards Indian Muslims. The states which bark all the time have much worse living conditions compared to Bangladesh; Makes no sense for Bangladeshis to settle there.
The illegal border crossings are predominantly driven by smuggling and relatives visiting each other temporarily.
