Bangabandhu satellite: 20 countries raise objections

. . .
This is one of many reason's why we need to be part of a bigger bloc. Space is not owned by any of these countries, since we have land on the face of the planet, we should get geo-stationary or geo-synchronous space over our land for placing our satellites.

.
Unfortunately because it is an Indian Agni that you're talking about,
it's gonna malfunction at mid flight and come back straight to mommy.
Could be , but hey , the satellite is Bangladeshi , it's gonna malfunction regardless of whether Agni hits it , or not.

.
Sarthak mate, shut up please. stop making this into useless India vs Bangladesh thread. :)

@Topic, And that is why it is necessary to develope your own missiles/ satellite deploying vehicles for Bangladesh. Look at Iran they have their own systems so they don't have to look for any one's permission.

If you have your own launching systems. no one can do squ*t.

do you know why they objected???the reason isn't clear in this article..

by the way,you dont need geo-stationary or geo-synchronous space over your land to launch a satellite..it is a funny logic.

Didn`t Bangladesh look out these technical hurdles first??? why are the bigger countries are crying on a single satellite by BD??

and at first why are some of my country men behaving like teen girls fighting each others??? This is all you find for fun... disgusting

This is a commercial satellite brother and will compete with other satellite already in the sapace. Putting it in the right position will get you an edge. Its natural that other will object. They are compainting that it will interfere with the frequency of their satellite. Just a lame excuse.

Ok .. now I can understand some points of their objections...

The country has to spend 11-million US dollar every year for using satellite as the domestic satellite television channels, telephone, radio are renting satellite facilities from other countries.

If Bangladesh can successfully send the satellite, it will earn $50 million dollar through renting the unused portion every year. Neighbor countries like Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar may our buyers.

they are feared of loosing their lucrative market ....

.
The space is no *********'s own property. We can launch or do anything there. We r not doing it for nuclear development or for any destruction. So nothing for objection.Right now we dont have that kinds of technologies but we r getting help from US company so whats the point of this.We just want to save our precious millions dollar for satellite. So shut those mouths.

Bangladesh satellite launch runs into rough weather

Gulf Times ? Qatar?s top-selling English daily newspaper - SriLanka/Bangladesh

Dhaka

Bangladesh’s first-ever $150mn satellite launch project is facing a
double glitch.
About 20 countries, including the USA, France, Russia and Australia, have expressed displeasure about the satellite launching programme at the planned slot of 102 degree in orbit. Instead, they have asked Bangladesh to launch the satellite at the slot of 69 degree east, officials in Dhaka said yesterday.
On the other hand, China, Malaysia and Singapore have opposed the plan of launching it at the slot of 69 degree.
Earlier, Bangladesh had applied to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for a slot at 102 degree in orbit to launch the satellite
Bangabandhu-1.
But sources in the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) said this application created a conflict of interest with the USA, France, Russia, Australia and some Middle Eastern countries, and the BTRC has been informed about their disapproval.
If Bangladesh operates its satellite at 102 degree in orbit, the countries would have to face attenuation of their signal transmission for overlapping frequency range in orbit, they added.
If Bangladesh does not get a slot at 102 degree, it will try to get a slot at 69 degree as per a feasibility study. However, this alternative has created another conflict of interest of the same sort with China, Malaysia and Singapore.
A senior official of the BTRC said, as Bangladesh is currently one of the 24 council members of ITU, it will try to use its council power to secure a slot at 102 degree in orbit. Bangladesh will also try to persuade the ITU through its America-based consultancy, Space Partnership International (SPI), to secure
the slot.

On March 29, the BTRC signed a 825mn taka consultancy deal with the SPI.
According to the deal, the firm will hire a manufacturing company to build and launch the satellite in orbit in the next three years.
Dr Satyaprasad Majumdar, professor of telecommunication engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, said the country has asked for the slot at 102 degree to reduce its launching costs. Also, it will provide better coverage over a broader geographical area, he added.

Space is not owned by these countries. We have the right like any other country to get the slot that will provide best coverage for our country.

Again, without a big bloc behind you, you get pushed around by bigger or more powerful countries. If ITU decides that, I bet its in US/West pocket, so no chance of getting justice there.

Now a little off topic rant:
And look at this name, Dr. Satyaprasad. It goes to show that in Bangladesh we have little discrimination towards minorities. My dream is to see a Bangladesh where people of all religions work hard to build a prosperous future, free of external influence and interference, together with ASEAN+ bloc, according to our look east policy.

And the Indian agents of RAWamy League, whether they are Muslims or from other background, can go live with their shining "mother India", if they love her so much.

But India is not just its chauvinist Hindu nationalists, it has Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist, Shudra, Dalit, Adivasi and other minorities, many of whom are oppressed by the Manuwadi Brahminists. We hope to see that this Brahmanist clique is eventually beaten while the oppressed people take over, changes this idiotic bully policy and make India a better neighbor for all South Asians. Sorry for going OT, but thought I would make myself clear, as a lot of these delusional idiots are labeling us and calling us names like "hardcore jamati". If you are any of the above category of Indians, think hard, somebody is manipulating you in making you believe in their BS, that we are your enemy.
