Estate tycoon and ex-CEO Bahria Town Malik Riaz recently talking with anchor Saleem Safi claimed the newly established Bahria Hospital in Lahore according to some UK medical experts is better than the UK one’s. The impression, as a layman I got was, that this Hospital in Lahore has been built under some licence/franchise of the UK hospital and now on completion the end product is better than the principal UK one. It is not strange for me. I was then working in prestigious PMTF Karachi. First half of 70s, the Factory produced its first prototype. When under the terms of Licence this prototype was sent to Switzerland for keeping in the Principal’s works-museum, the certificate from the Principal quoted “we have 130 years experience but the precision attained by PMTF is highest we ever found from our franchises”.
2. Malik Riaz is affixing “wheels” under his “files” or what else, from deep his heart this senior citizen respects him because still he remembers his “old poverty”. Starting from most lucrative Income Tax Department in Pakistan, even after 45 plus years service this senior citizen does not own or has a house or flat of his own for this old age shelter. Honesty does not pay “today”. The plot purchased in Islamabad through honest Rizq-e-Hilal, as is usual with OPF, is under litigation. The other allotted in KDA’s exclusive Overseas Pakistanis Housing Mehran Town Karachi is occupied by mafia. Hence, I can’t even think of passing from the front of a Bahria Town colony let alone owning one. Yet I truly believe him that all his Bahria Towns have par excellent high international standards.
3. However, I don’t believe that his Lahore hospital, as claimed by him, is of that high professional standard let alone better as foreign medical experts said to him. Had it been so, Choudhary Nissar Ahmed would not had gone UK just for routine normal, according to Dr. Shahid Masood “Harnia and eye” operations on exorbitant high expense leaving discounted fees, if not free, from Malik Riaz.
