PAF was definitely a co-developer of the JF-17.

But in terms of other options. PAF had EXTREMELY limited options at the time.

In fact, thank the Russians for allowing PAF to get its hands on the RD-93.

If not, PAF was F@#KED circa early to mid 90's to the US relaxation of arms limitations after 9/11.

I don't think the Su-27 was available to Pakistan.

India, as it is now, is a MUCH LARGER market.

Secondly, relations between Russia and India were less murky and more friendly then the current state.

The reality is the US has f@#$ed Pakistan time and time again.

Yea man I remember reading about it back in the day. I also read about PAF buying Mirage 2000 in 1992
etc. etc.

But the reality is JF-17 was the program that saved the PAF.

Because Pak itself was financially fked... thanks to US Sanctions..

Pretty sure J-10B (batch 2 onwards) and certainly J-10C use the WS-10.

I will defer to @wanglaokan and @Deino for their input.

To admit so far only a handfull J-10Bs and no C use the WS-10 but indeed I expect any future BAF-variant to be powered by the Taihang.

Anyway so far I have not seen a single proof or confirmation that the BAF would buy the J-10C ... only lots of rumours and given the confirmed Su-30SM purchase I'm more than sceptical.
