This is more like a destroyer as it will have Australia's own AESA MFR and 48-cell Mk-41 VLS. This frigate will be 7,000 tonnes.
Also the ships will be built in Australia with around 70% of the components coming from Australian suppliers.
This is by far the most powerful and best anti- sub frigate in the world. Chinese are catching up for sure but they have no frigate that can come close to this.
Lastly UK is related to Australia by blood and this ensures total supplier support for these ships at all times.

No. The price is right, when you consider the TOT involved in this programme, the length of the programme and the need to develop new infrastructure to manufacture these ships as well as new additional R&D required to meet Australia's requirements. Australia is NOT buying a pure Type 26 that the RN is buying, but a higly customised version that meets THEIR needs. The price is NOT just about the unit cost, it is the cost of the overall programme required to deliver these ships in line with Australisa's REQUIREMENTS...

Definitely lots of stuff not in the media, we are buying a fully customized warship here, because our navy patrols long ranges from Australian shores.

Includes TOT, and other things as well, we are spending big on our military.
