Backbone of Pakistani Taliban broken: Malik

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik Monday claimed that the backbone of proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been cracked.

"If Punjab government launches a crackdown on the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, the scourge of terrorism could be eliminated," Rehman Malik said while talking to media persons after enquiring about the health of Abbas Town victims during his visit to Agha Khan Hospital here.

He said 'Punjabi Taliban' and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) are behind terrorist acts being perpetrated in Pakistan. "Every time I utter the name of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, it give the Punjab government jitters," he added.

The Interior Minister told the reporters that as many as 34 FIRs are lodged against LeJ leader Malik Ishaq and the Punjab government instead of taking him into custody criticizes him (Rehman Malik).

He said the authorities are after three-four LeJ leaders and they will soon be nabbed.

Malik asked as to why the Punjab government does not close down the offices of LeJ in the province. "The passage of the 18th amendment has passed on the responsibility to tackle terrorism to the provinces," he said.

He said his job was to provide intelligence which he has been performing without fail. "I have been repeating for the past three months that the country will witness surge in acts of terrorism but I have been ridiculed for that," he lamented.

The Interior Minister said there was a similarity in the terror strikes of Quetta and Karachi. In both the incidents chemicals were transported from Punjab, he added.

Statement like these are Just talk no productivity he just going to get an other bomb attack, they Should go around and arrest them instead of making public statements or perform extra judicial killings in their case because as soon as they get out the will do the same and even if they go to jail its taxpayers money they are living on which is redundent because they did the crime citizens paid they going to go to jail the citizens are going to pay when the come out the citizens are going to pay SO extra judicial killing is the way to go put 2 in the chest one in the head of these c0cksuckers

Malik G must be on a very potent variety of Nasawar. Bethay, kharay, soye huay bakwas kar deta hai. Though he is right about one thing, LeJ's offices are still open in Punjab, and god knows which other Le(XYZ) is operating out of there.

When he passed the responibility to the provinces did he pass the equipment and man power to actually do the job?

Punjabi Taliban is just a cover up name for some politicial terrorist group. For so long there was no Punjabi Taliban then all of a sudden from where the hell did this PT came from?? LeJ is very close to PML-N, so it is clear that PML-N supports LeJ openly.

There is no doubt that the terrorist organizations like the TTP and LEJ are fueling terrorism in the region. Thousands of deaths can be attributed to their terrorist activities. They regularly orchestrate acts of terror in their bid to destabilize the region. Unfortunately, we’ve seen one too many times when conspiracy theories begin to over shadow their dangerous agenda. People begin to point the finger in different direction and end up offering these terrorists the leeway to further their terrorist agenda. We share a common stance against terrorism.
