This has been going on for some time. What I don't understand is why the formula companies are not capitalizing on this and legally exporting baby formula to China?

People don't 100% trust the products sold in China are actually legit. They worry it either could be counterfeit or a legit container that has already been used and locally refilled. However they know if they get it off a shelf in Australia it should be the real thing.

The Australian and New Zealand Dairy producers already are exporting baby formula in large quantities to China, but can't meet the massive demand for foreign products . The problem with what the Daigou are doing is they are depriving local consumers from purchasing baby formula by stripping the shelves clean.

It's a clear case of greed and selfishness what the Daigou are doing with baby formula. The Australian and New Zealand supermarkets are left to deal with probably the worst group of angry consumers imaginable, mothers of new born babies.

So they introduced the maximum limit per customer to try and ensure local mothers are able to access baby formula, but we see how determined the Daigou are to make their quick buck. It's difficult to see how it can be stopped really.
