Azerbaijan Socar Buys Esso Switzerland From ExxonMobil -Report

ZURICH -(Dow Jones)- Azerbaijan's state oil company Socar has acquired ExxonMobil Corp.'s (XOM) Swiss subsidiary Esso Schweiz, which has 172 filling stations and around 885 staff in the Alpine country, the TagesAnzeiger reports Thursday.

The transaction price wasn't disclosed, and the deal is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2012, it reported. Esso Switzerland will continue to operate under the Esso brand for a further 12 months.

Esso Switzerland had sales of 1.76 billion Swiss francs ($1.92 billion) in 2000, the last period for which results are avaiable, it reported.

Azeri state oil company to invest USD 10 billion in Turkey

Sabah - Azerbaijan's SOCAR plans to invest up to USD 10 billion in energy projects in Turkey over the next eight years, according to the company’s Vice President Suleyman Gasimov. Speaking at a conference in Baku, Gasimov said the investment total does not include expenses for the new Trans-Anatolian Pipeline Project (TANAP).
SOCAR owns a 61 percent stake in Turkey’s largest petrochemical company, PETKIM. The company is building a USD 5 billion refinery at PETKIM site in Aliaga, Izmir.
