Azerbaijan interested in Turkey’s Firtina Self-Propelled Howitzer

.
I don't know but it's presumably same number. The project probably delayed.

.
Coz we didnt need it.....Besides we bought more thn 115 M-109A5 SPGs frm USA........N upgraded the older a4s.......... n it makes no sense to buy different types of spgs......... Also i doubt firtina can bo sold co its not a turkish product........... its a lil downgraded variant of k-9(south korean) howitzer......With german engine etc...produced bt turkey.under tot.

If it was downgraded the Australians wouldn't be cutting deals with us for its fire control system and weapons management system. It is modified variant would be the correct term. Also we use MTU engines is almost everything as we have contracts with them and they are some of the best engines in the world.

CANBERRA 15 September 2008: Following on quickly from successful armour protection and C2 integration tests, Raytheon Australia today announced better than expected performance from the AS-9 Aussie Thunder self-propelled howitzers (SPH) Aselsan weapon management system particularly when firing demanding Multiple Round Simultaneous Impact (MRSI) fire missions.

Note even American firms are using Turkish defense companies as subcontractors to meet set requirements.

Turkey firstly developed this prototype but some of Korean subsystems could not install on it because of it's different design so MKEK decided to producing it similar to Korean design. Firtina is not downgraded version of K-9 contrarily it's upgraded version of it. Firtina owes to it's higher performance to Turkish made Aselsan's subsystems such as INS, FCS, Automatic Cannon Movement System, First Speed Radar, Night Vision Equipments, Radio and communication systems. Engine, and transmission are producing under license of Germany. Besides barrel and other subsystems are producing with Korean license.

So much bullschit reducing all your IQ.. The only place he was correct in, marked bold.

nevermind that, I read that TSK are using these in the fights against the terrorists, so what type of ammunition are they using, and what others can be used, and how is the precision ?

I think the K-9 only weights 45 tonne, but ours weight more if I am not wrong.

I found this site on different ammo types: 155 mm Projectiles

Turkey insists on selling T-155 Fırtına self-propelled howitzer to Azerbaijan

Because of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, German company refused to sell engine for Firtina to Azerbaijan

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. Despite the obstacles created by some European companies, Turkey insists on selling T-155 Fırtına self-propelled howitzer to Azerbaijan, Turkey’s Undersecretary for Defense Industries Murad Bayar told APA exclusively.

Though Azerbaijan and Turkey reached an agreement on purchase and sale of Firtina self-propelled howitzer, according to the reports there are some technical problems in the project. Germany’s MTU company, which is providing Firtina with engine, refused to provide with engine the self-propelled howitzer that will be sold to Azerbaijan. Yonca-Onuk company, which is going to sell boats to Azerbaijan, has faced similar problem.

“As a brotherly country we have assumed the solution of this problem,” Bayar said.

According to Murad Bayar, Turkey is considering two new variants on export of weapons to Azerbaijan. One of them is the purchase of engine from another country.
“Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation is considering alternative variants. The second variant is the production of engine in Turkey. We have started work for the production of engines in Turkey. It will take approximately four or five years. There will be no problems after that,” he said.

Bayar also added that T-155 “Firtina” system was a very strong weapon. Azerbaijan will gain the additional power by including it to the weapon inventory. The Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation’s (MKEK) CEO Unal Onsipahioglu told APA that the problem was on the eve of its settlement: “The engine and transmission problems of the artillery system have been solved and the alternative company was found”.

Germany’s MTU Company which provided “Firtina” with engine, refused to give an engine to Azerbaijan because of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

The length of “Firtina” is 12 meters, width – 3.5 meters, height – 47 tones, speed -66km/h. “Firtina”s which are in the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces were provided with “MTU-881 KA 500” diesel engine. 155 mm “L-2” cannon and 12.7 caliber machine gun are included to the system’s armament. The artillery system can be effectively used against targets 20 km apart.

Agreement will probably cancel because of German made engine and transmission system. German parliament does not let sells weapons to fighting countries. It may too costly changes to engine and transmission for 36 SPH.

That's stupid concept Germans have! Weapons are meant for combat. What kind of rule is this "selling to non-combatant nations"? And what if tomorrow there is a war between them? Will Germany sanction them? That would collapse their defense industry. What good is a manufacturer when he doesn't even allow his weapons to be used?

Turkey offers Azerbaijan to join/fund developments of some serious domestic defence programs. With this way, Azerbaijan will also be self reliant in strategic military systems and able to change the stabilities of region thanks to the products produced by Azerbaijan-Turkey. The projects Turkey offers to Azerbaijan can be listed as;

-National Infantry Rifle (Azerbaijan joined)
