These Peace keepers are just like trained Watch Man to me. So I am not proud of.......

And tHey are working along with civilians there to maintain the peace there, but not doing the same here to bring the peace here

Yeah, they maintain peace in Kuwait, Lebanon, Sierra Leon, etc. while they couldn't even protect their own generals.

Ironic...

A job at the BA is the most relaxing job in the world. No fuss, no huss.

Yes I do agree that it brings in some really good amount of money both for the soldiers and the army. But hey.... From Bangladesh 's angle.. .if you think logically... Does it need a big standing army? It's never had a war after independence. Contributing to the UNPKO brings an element of soft power... Similar to what foreign aid which for example Thailand might provide to Mozambique.

Would having these men in Bangladesh at this time prevented what's happening now?

We need a modern, effective, patriot, non-pro-Indian (also not unnecessarily anti Indian) small size army just for deterrence. We do not need big size army.

I guess yes.

Thailand has a pretty mean military. It is not weak compared to others in its neighborhood. It has a healthy number of F-16's.

The Bangladesh Army is a state within a state. See those wide open grass fields on the airport highway? Those are all owned by the army. And so is Radisson Hotel.

There are still traitors within our ranks.

Gen. Moeen. Rawr.....TRAITOR!

The army cancelled our booking of the reception hall to accommodate a meeting with a foreign field Marshall at the 11th.... Guess the ownership is the point I missed!

I still don't get the fact that the army is allowed to possess so much of the prime real estate in a megapolis like Dhaka! It's just mind boggling.

3. We will never have any war, even if we have war with India, we will never win, then what is the use of our Amry except maintaining peace? The army must do something. I suggest that Army must come after every 5 years for 3 month to play the role of caretaker govt. Except maintaining peace at home, I really see no use of our Army. Seriously our Army is not playing it;s part in this measurable time. Now I know why I do not waste my time thinking about our Army.
why do you think like that bro remember loosing hope is gunah, it is like loosing faith ! see if you compare South Korea's size to China then you will see that South Korea is just 38,691 sq mi means 38 thousand 7 hundred sq mi, while China on the other hand is almost 3,800,000 sq mi ! means almost 3.8 million sq mi !
where as India is 1,240,000 sq mi which is 3 times smaller then China, Bangladesh on the other hand is 56,000 sq mi, which is 17,000 sq mi larger then south Korea ! in fact Bangladesh is larger then South Korea & Bhutan combined !
now, if Bangladesh is just too small & insignificant in front of India which itself is 3 times smaller then China ,then for all practical purposes South Korea shouldn't even exist ! isn't it ?
now bro do you know that south Korea has one of the strongest Militarily in the world
it has the strongest navy after China & India ! in fact the South Koreans have a "Green water navy"
it has one of the strongest air forces in the world, it has one of the largest land forces @ 653,000 active troops ( personals are NOT included in this) ,which means that they have 653,000 jawans ! ready to fight anytime, now be honest can China even think of doing that to South Korea of what India does to Bangladesh ? the answer is a big NO , why because the South Koreans are damn Strong ,they might be smaller then Bangladesh, while China might be larger then India but none the less, they are a self respecting, proud people who doesn't take sh!t from anybody, so if South Korea can do it, so can Bangladesh
just think about it

If you feel of the situation and death toll here, you would know our police is filled with Awami goons (it's a long term strategy of BAL), joker BGB is defunct and unsuccessful at the borders, and now providing supports to the awami police who are against unarmed civilians. Now how our army feel about this situation is still unclear. May be they are indifferent to this bad situation (unfortunate, if true), or supporting BAL, or dumb enough to understand that majority of the people want their intervention.

People do not want to see BAL, but they are not feeling secure enough to express their voice openly as they could be arrested or harassed by false charges. Plus general people are unarmed. So who can help? Who has the more power than police and BGB? It's army, and people would welcome their intervention. If this is the response of army to this critical situation, I doubt they would have any use in any war. No matter what arms you buy, if the person is bought, no benefit. Our BGB has guns, but no use even our civilian die inside bd territory getting sweet shots from our dear BSF.

No one can break this dead-lock if army do not intervene, I guess. Because people do not have the strength to counter BAL goons and polices as they are state sponsored, if people go against BAL-govt, they would be shot, or killed, or harassed or jailed.

I can be 99% sure that India would never attack BD directly, as it will not want a new enemy of large population that could be a threat to NE, and lose of big market here. So about the strength of our Army, I think we just need a few collection of such tools and strategic partner countries and deals, so that India never dear to attack BD first thinking about the unrecoverable damages. We do not a big army or big budget, we need trusted partner and some adorable tools, because when it comes to size and budget, BD is unmatched with India, and likely to be defeated.

If you read in between lines Ershad in his press conference dropped the hint of thousand crore taka. It seems previous amount of 200 core from Awami League (partially paid) + 100 crore from india (unpaid) were not enough. Ershad figured Awami League looted billions and 300 crore is not fair price given ordeal he has to endure. Nonetheless, IF Ershad sticsk to his decision, Awami League and india for that matter, are royally screwed.

indians cant keep up with american money ;) :usflag:

Sure, Bangladesh had the potential to give a run for their money. It could have given a run for anyone's money for that matter.

But it's too late at present. Did you know that South Korea and Pakistan were at the same level back in the 60's? And look at them now. The South Koreans have come a long way since then in every aspect of their society. Be it politics, economics, culture and technology. Samsung, LG, Hyundai, Kia, etc. are all household names that the world had become accustomed to. Yep, they are giving the Japanese electronics and car industries a run for their money.

Not to mention evil Koreans establishing themselves as hardcore gamers. Starcraft anyone? They have something to do, a recreational activity. Geeks as they would say. And there's K-pop.

Let's ask ourselves, why do we have such violent student politics at grassroots level? It's simple, lack of recreational opportunities and activities. Let alone realizing them. Freedom of the mind and doing what one likes to do is very important for a society to move forward. And it must be positive.

And for starters, just who were those geniuses who banned new foreign films being shown here in Bangladesh? It certainly weren't the Islamists as most other geniuses would assume.

Dhaka University was a very prestigious institution back in the day. It had potential to be a world-class institution. And look at it now. Their rankings dropping like a rock over time. The blame squarely goes to Mujib for that for making Bengali the only medium. And when one screws up from the beginning, the rest will start falling apart.

Timing is everything. And we, did not do well in that category. Thanks to our politicians (especially the two netris) and extremely short-sighted business people at present. A mafia-like culture which is decadent beyond belief. Add that to a bunch of jokers in our midst.

But fear not. Some say that biotechnology is the next front for technology. Perhaps Bangladesh can create something for itself from there? Biotechnology has vast potential.

The two netris and a bunch of other old jokers are not it.

If you feel of the situation and death toll here, you would know our police is filled with Awami goons (it's a long term strategy of BAL), joker BGB is defunct and unsuccessful at the borders, and now providing supports to the awami police who are against unarmed civilians. No other government has done things the way this government has done in the nation's history. You name it. Heavily politicizing police, the military and especially the media. Yep, Awami League is creating history.

As for strategic partners, I agree on that. But we must as Bangladeshis must be able to stand on our own ground. Otherwise, we'd just be a ball in a game of football between powers. In fact, this is happening right now.

We must do things for ourselves for our interests. Not expect others to do it for us. No givers or takers.

Three I am thinking:

2. BNP is miserably failed. They failed many times ago politically, strategically and diplomatically. Now they have no way except Hartal. My question is why would we and I suffer for BNP's failure who could do nothing smartly but Hartal. BNP is a party of dumb gentlemen. Our problem is we do not have a good govt party and also do not have a good opposition party.

Well, opportunist people around leadership had made BNP dis functional as opposition party. I have made that observation and criticism many times as well. But that has changed lately because of determination at the top by KZ. So there is markedly different BNP now than before. Not to mention, Awami genocidal gun barrel was successful to keep them out until this movement.

As for the question "why would we and I suffer for BNP's failure who could do nothing smartly but Hartal"? That is type of question in Awami Sushil dominated media trying to preach now a days. Perhaps, attracted attention of few urban folks. This is where morally corrupt Indo Awami media showed its color.

First thing to ask these people and yourself, is this problem of caretaker issue we are facing today created by BNP? answer is NO. Awami League going against 90% opinion changed the constitutional provision to cling into power, THAT IS THE CORE OF THE PROBLEM. So suffering you are going through is Awami League creation not BNP's.

Second, premise BNP did not do anything and criticizing BNP when it went behind 90% popular support to have caretaker govt; are contradictory and deceptive Indo Awami media invention.

Third, doing something "other than hartal" is ONLY possible where democratic institutions exists. In Bangladesh all democratic institutions are either hijacked or mutilated by Indian and Awami League actions over last 5 years.
1) Judiciary turned into Awami League second hand.
2) Non Indo Awami media has been suppressed, closed and journalist tortured and jailed.
3) Election commission is throughly hacked and infiltrated to obey Awami League order.
4) Law enforcement as we speak (other than killing in genocidal proportion) used to force Jatiya party to a farcical election.
5) Administration is thoroughly infiltrated with party cadres.

These media played auxiliary role with Awami League in destruction of democratic institutions in last 5 years. Now the same media preaching for "non hartal" only to save Awami League and prolong its atrocious and destructive rule.

Fourth, when you say "we" it is clear who you are talking about - SOME urban folks who are unhappy about their own personal comfort zone. BUT fact is large population in every corner of country came out against Awami League rule and against farcical election. Awami robbed their livelihood in last 5 years and they are the silent vast majority of the country. In the eyes of this vast majority these urban elites type and their representing media is no different than Awami League. Let's not forget about that realization. These Indo Awami media know it but they would not say it out loud.

Fifth, but most important one - Awami League taken away democratic right to do even human chain. Awami League genocidal force had beaten up and even shot people in point blank range even just for protesting.Opposition party office were occupied and vandalized by Awami League genocidal forces.

Did you really think through these points before falling for indo-Awami deceptive lines circulating in their media?

Under such atrocious and genocidal Awami rule there is no other recourse left for people and political parties establish people right to vote and elect their govt.

Actually BNP failed at that time when during last election AL stated to manipulated BAL's 71 spirit and false Islamic terrorism issues through false flag operations. Naive Bangladeshis never knew that using 71's spirit, Islamic terrorism issue and Razakarr issue, BAL is just going to deceive them, asking them to be slave of India and giving hollow pride. After coming into power, AL has succeed, and screwed every institute and rendered people helpless against BAL. So now I hope, neutral people would not fall into BAL's harmful spirit propaganda again and would think thrice before giving vote to AL. Because, once BAL come into power, they are extremely deficit to be removed.

I also strongly suggest that if BNP comes in power again, then along with doing many many real developing works, if BNP helps to create a large opposition political party so that people treat BAL as a minority community party. There will be BNP and another largest opposition party.

Did you really think through these points before falling for indo-Awami deceptive lines circulating in their media?

I did not ask that question watching any media, I asked that by thinking myself.
