মিরপুরের কালশীতে বিহারী ক্যাম্পে সংঘর্ষে ১০জন নিহতের যাওয়ার ঘটনায় স্থানীয় সংসদ সদস্য ইলিয়াস মোল্লাকে দায়ী করেছেন স্ট্র্যান্ডেড পাকিস্তানিস জেনারেল রিপ্যাট্রিয়েশন কমিটি (এসপিজিআরসি) বাংলাদেশের তথ্য ও বার্তা সম্পাদক শামসাদ শাকিল।

তিনি বলেন, পার্শ্ববর্তী টিনশেড বস্তিতে ওই সংসদের ৪০ থেকে ৫০টি পরিবার থাকেন। বিদ্যুৎ সংযোগের বিষয়ে কিছুদিন আগে জেলাপ্রশাসনের তত্ত্বাবধানে সেখানে একটি জরিপ চালানো হয়।ওই জরিপের পর বিদ্যুৎ অফিস থেকে বলা হয়, এখন যে পরিমাণ লোড আছে তাতে বিহারী ক্যাম্পে বিদ্যুৎ থাকবে কিন্তু টিনশেড বস্তিতে বিদ্যুতের সংযোগ দেয়া সম্ভব না।

শাকিল বলেন, এরপর ইলিয়াস মোল্লা মিরপুর ১২ নম্বর অবাঙালী ক্যাম্পের চেয়ারম্যান জালাল উদ্দিন ঘন্টুকে বলেন, টেন শেড বস্তিতে তার লোকেদের বিদ্যুতের সংযোগ দিতে।

তিনি বলেন, ঘন্টু সংযোগ দিতে তার অপারগতার কথা জানানোর পরে ইলিয়াস মোল্লা তার নামে মিথ্যা মামলা দেন।

শাকিল বলছেন, আজ সকালেও পটকার বাহানা দিয়ে এই সংঘর্ষ বাঁধিয়েছেন সাংসদ ইলিয়াস। সকাল এতগুলা মানুষ মারা গেলে অথচ তিনি একবার দেখতেও আসলেন না, কী অবস্থা সেখানে। এ থেকেই বোঝা যায় এ ঘটনায় তার হাত রয়েছে।

এদিকে বেশ কজন বিহারী বলেন, আমরা আছি উভয় সঙ্কটে। আমরা যদি টিনশেড বস্তিতে বিদ্যুতের লাইন নিতে দেই তাহলে আর্মিরা সেই সংযোগ কেটে দেয়। আবার যদি না নিতে দেই তাহলে আওয়ামী লীগের লোকেরা আমাদের উপর হামলা করে।

সংবাদকর্মীদের উপরও ক্ষোভ প্রকাশ করে বিহারীরা বলেন, আপনারা মিথ্যা সংবাদ প্রচার করছেন। টিভিতে বলছেন, আমরা হামলা চালিয়েছি। আমরা তো একটি ইটও মারিনি কাউকে।

let me write in short - during Shab e barat - biharis were asked by bengali mullas to stop making sound ( patka-bazi ) ... Biharis ignored and it resulted in mild clash. Local awamileague leaders had problems with bihari community leaders and they took the opportunity and burnt few houses.

Yes, only the ones that want to go to Pakistan are kept in camps. In 1971, there were a little over 1 million Biharis in Bangladesh. They were granted citizenship through a presidential order but only half of them accepted the offer. Since then many more Biharis have accepted the citizenship but some continued to demand migration to Pakistan. About 150,000 Biharis were shifted to Pakistan through phases in the 1980s and 1990s until Pakistan stopped to take any more Biharis because of the fragile ethnic relations there. Since the Biharis, who opt to migrate to Pakistan, have no citizenship, they can't own land and had to be relocated to refugee camps.

Given the above, it is obvious that the general populace of DB would nt view these stranded pakistanis with favourable eyes- A sense of them being traitors, fueled by the unfortunate events at the hands of razakars- tensions will prevail.

Coming to the old vs new divide, who are the older folks waiting upon to rescue them?Pak has made it clear that they are not welcome...then why ruin it for the ones who want to BDeshis..i mean the younger lot were born in this country....Maybe when the last of th old gen dies, will the biahris become totally assimilated with the populace

There r no locals here. Its awami student wing terrorist juboleague members backed by local MP and awami cadres are the actual law enforcers in this jungle land.
