AVIC Presents FC-31 Stealth Fighter model to Pakistan Air Force Chief.

Want China Times is an anti Chinese BS source.
For people like you, every source is bullshit that speaks the truth and brings out facts. You are shooting the messenger as you usually do.

For you even PLA Navy Rear Admiral Zhang Zhaozhong is talking shit when he says that the J-31 is a lemon. It seems you know more than him, as well as the experts who attended the air show!

Carry on....It's fun living in a world of self delusion. Be happy!

Hi,

So---following is the article in want china times--------.

To Pak members---do not worry about any negative news about the J 31----. It is an old news and some of it drama.

If you saw the engine smoke---then you must have noticed it to be coming from one engine only----. All the electronics packages are proven to be working as designed and so are the weapons---- .

As you guys might have noticed that there has been put a stops to all the leaks that were popping up about the JF 17---J10's and other aircraft---.

So---you won't get to hear much about the J 31 either-----.

Actually what these newspapers are doing is using negative psychology----. They rate the J 31 or other aircraft to be under performing and thus force the aircraft manufacturer come out and deny those charges by telling them what the aircraft can do---thus leaking our precious and important information so that the defense magazines can stay happy.

So---just for the sake of it---keep an eye on paris air show----and don't be disheartened by negative reporting.

Just remember---the opponents prime superiority aircraft has a 55% down time----. So---if they want to be happy over an old and deceptive news---then let them be. MK

J-31 stealth jet gets bad reviews after Zhuhai Airshow flight|WantChinaTimes.com

China's newly unveiled J-31 stealth fighter has received bad reviews at home and abroad after making its first public demonstration flight during the biennial Zhuhai Airshow in the southern province of Guangdong.
The criticism of J-31, China's second fifth-generation fighter jet, mainly stems from the dark exhaust emitting from the jet's engine, which indicates the engine's poor efficiency in burning fuel.
There are two types of engines used on the J-31 jets — the RD-93 used by Russia's MiG-29 fighters will be fitted to those intended for foreign clients, while the ones deployed by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) will have the WS-13 engine developed from the RD-93.
It is unclear which type of engine the J-31 on display in Zhuhai used.
Meanwhile, PLA Navy Rear Admiral Zhang Zhaozhong said in a speech in Xiamen on Nov. 17 that China's reverse engineering still has its limitations, and that it will take the country another few years to achieve a breakthrough in developing its own engines.
Zhang said the development of a jet engine involves mechanics and digital control, and the former is far more easy to master than the latter. "This part is too difficult and not something that can be achieved successly in a short time," he said.
Zhang also believes that the J-31 jet is too heavy.
Meanwhile, Teal Group analyst Richard Aboulafia said prospects for the J-31 jet's export market are not as positive as many have described.
Aboulafia said countries buying Chinese military hardware are mainly poor, with Pakistan the largest customer, and China may have to find new clients for the higher-end fifth-generation fighters. These new clients are most likely China's neighbors, but these countries will have their about Beijing given the tensions existing between them, Aboulafia added.
Moreover, the fifth-generation jets may have already come too late, since the US Air Force and Navy have both begun plans to develop their next-generation fighters to replace the F-22 and F/A-18E/F, respectively.

They rate the J 31 or other aircraft to be under performing and thus force the aircraft manufacturer come out and deny those charges by telling them what the aircraft can do---thus leaking our precious and important information so that the defense magazines can stay happy.
sums up everything......

Wasn't he the same guy who claimed that China's air pollution would safeguard it against laser-guided munitions?

Chinease j31 is nothing more than a prototype phase.

You guys are looking desperate with stories j31.and. paf talk

We have no idea of induction time.

Export model avialability

Or cost per unit.

We dont even have details of radars weapons or electonics.

I suggest coming back in 2020.

Update : In the presentation J31 used "Optical" sensors to fire BVR at very long ranges - to dispatch many Su30's - it was a devastating performance, the "adversary" aircraft - representing the entity to the east.

Also presented was the "net centric capability" - J31 can operate a swarm of UAV's which have both surveillance, battle damage assessment, attack both air/ground capability, with the 31 acting as a conductor in a symphony.

Also the 31 avionics are going to introduce a revolutionary new ergonomic flight computer which will allow the aircraft to fly itself and allow the pilot to concentrate on the swarm communications.

Some of the above capability will come with the first aircraft others in a series of upgrades/

From other thread.
eh? If I am not mistaken, how can optical sensors be used to fire BVRs (which is a radar guided missile). Raptor uses her LPI radar to track and allow missile to keep its own seeker quite. As far as I can guess, it can only be that optical trackers would have facilitated the initial firing direction of missile, subsequently going hot after a while and searching and tracking the target.....

J-31prototype 2 is under construction or may have rolled out for testing. Its rear section is being re designed for better stealth features and new electro optical tracking system being tested. PAF might have given input for their design features as the main body was also being re design for weight loss. But the whole aircraft is not being re shaped as basic stealth features are ok. It;s not an abnormal procedure for any pro to type being re designed as PT-04 was finalized for JF-17 Thunder. The engine exhaust is also changed and one piece canopy is for sure. Chinese always show any new product when they are sure for it's design para meters are ok. Prototype 1 is just a companies technology demonstrator only. Please wait for the real thing to come.

Though J31 will take time before the aircraft gets officially inducted in PLAAF, but J31 will be a good choice for PAF.

A fair assessment. However with a caveat, PLAAF and PAF will now not release what is going on behind the scene. So the chances of anyone finding out what the capabilities are is next to none even in 2020. The fact that PAF appears to be interested is an indication that the platform has potential. We will induct it post 2022 so we have time on our hands.PLAAF and PAF relationship is unlike a manufacturer and a buyer. There are a complex myriad of vested interests which keep both the nations going forward together. With ongoing developments the likelihood of this going further are higher than before. Both the parties stand to gain out of this.

Irrespective we are still 7-10 yrs away from induction. The major hurdle appears to be the engine as the current engine is unsuitable and underpowered. Then there will be extensive testing and tweaking ,weapons integration and qualification. unlike JGFT I think PAF is going to buy it off the shelf so we will not have much input other than basic comments and expectations which the Chinese as providers will fulfill. At the phase of JFT the Chinese did complain that we keep changing our demands and I think this time also it will be no different.
