AVIC expands international partnerships
Aviation Industry of China (AVIC) has signed a series of agreements with foreign prime contractors to expand industrial participation programmes and boost innovation.
The agreements with Boeing, Safran and Hamilton Sundstrand were signed at the Paris Air Show on 20 June and all represent an enhancement of existing long-standing partnerships between the entities.
Under their respective accord, AVIC and Boeing will launch a manufacturing innovation centre in 2012 with a view to increasing AVIC's "efficiency and capacity" to supply parts for Boeing aircraft, said a joint statement.
The deal with Safran is focused on the joint development of avionics and turboshaft engines for heavy helicopters. AVIC's agreement with Hamilton Sundstrand will see the two groups form a partnership to design and develop aviation auxiliary power units.
