Hanoi (VNA) – Sales of automobiles by members of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) in October surged 22 percent against the previous month to reach 33,254 units.

The association said the figure almost caught up with the record sales of 33,484 units posted in January 2019.

Sales of passenger cars expanded 23 percent to 25,339 units and commercial vehicles, up 17 percent to 7,528 units. Meanwhile, 387 special-use vehicles were sold, up 71 percent month-on-month.

September sales included 20,498 locally-assembled vehicles, up 15 percent, and 12,756 imported vehicles, up 35 percent.

Among non-VAMA members, TC Motor reported sales of 7,839 automobiles in October, while VinFast sold 2,866 units.

The combined sales of VAMA members, TC Motor, and VinFast reached 43,959 in October.

For the 10-month period, a total of 212,409 vehicles were sold, a drop of 18 percent year-on-year.

Toyota was the best selling brand in the past month with 8,841 units sold, followed by TC Motor with 7,839 units, and Kia with 4,685.

Experts explained that the domestic automobile market has bounced back as the COVID-19 pandemic has been contained in Vietnam and businesses have offered an array of promotion programmes.

However, they said, it is hard to raise this year’s sales to 400,000 units as recorded last year since the average monthly sales stood at only 21,000 units per month during the January-October period, as compared with 33,000 units last year.

Congrats, you have reached the sales volume which takes a few hours here...LMAO...

Honestly, for such a small sales base, the Jan to Oct accumulative sales yoy (year on year) decline by 17%, that does not worth of a congrat, even we consider the impacts of Covid.

Meanwhile, although the vehicle sales in China is ~100x of Vietnam (19.69 million, vs. 0.2 million, Jan to Oct 2020), the yoy change for the same period in China is -4.7%.

China's first-tier cities began to restrict gasoline vehicles many years ago, and China's annual car production and sales exceeded 25 million. If large cities did not restrict gasoline vehicles, China’s annual car sales would have exceeded 30 million vehicles. :china: :china: :yay::yay:

Nowadays, most families in rural areas in China have cars, because they basically have to buy a new house to buy a car when they get married, so cars are becoming more and more common in rural areas. Not to mention limiting the total number of cars in big cities. A license plate costs 10,000 to 20,000 US dollars :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
----------------In 2019, China's automobile production and sales completed 25.721 million and 25.769 million respectively. The population of Vietnam is equal to one-fourteenth of China, which is equivalent to 1.8 million cars sold in Vietnam each year. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yay: :yay:

China now has 270 million cars and will be ~300 million this year. This means nearly every household of 4 people have a car on average.

So why are cars so expensive in vn? Why it takes 17k USD to buy a tiny little midget rebadged hatchback?
Do you mean your money does not worth that much?

Do you even know what rebadge is? Vinfast cars's body are pressed with chassis and transmission are produced locally. Cars are expensive in Vietnam vs china or India because of the low volumes of sales. Take Tata Motor of India for example, they have cars that sell for 3000 usd, they can do that because of high volume of sales that spread their fixed and even variable costs. And relax, Vietnamese are not buying any of your cheap chinese car, we are buying Vinfast car that cost like 50k usd
Do Vietnam has electric bus,ev taxi or ev sedan?
Ev bus? Yes..ev sedan ?not.now.

This thread is about Vietnam. I don't know why people felt the need to bring China into this. Don't compare China to Vietnam. Have some self-respect.

You put a 'vinfast' logo on a existing GM model, even you assemble the chassis or whatever...Not rebadging? Are you serious?
Tata motor? cheap? 3000 usd? Do you mean that joke car which only got 1 side mirror? LMAO... That sort of 'car' costs 1000 usd here.
No one wants you to buy Chinese cars, as your sales are negligible, just like your economy as a whole, but '50k usd vinfast'? LMAO, that decade-old crap worth no more than 5k...LMAO...
But no one is buying vn car anyway...

BTW, do not try to find more excuses, your expensive crapy cars are not due to low sales volume, but due to you do not have any technology and have to import everything abroad to put together a 'car'... while international car companies will certainly charge premium prices even for their lowest-end models... Your money really worth nothing, so is your 'GDP'...

There is a deal wt US when Trump visited VN : "if VN wanna make business wt US, then u must use US's part/engines even when u can manufacture those part/engine in VN".

Thats why Vinfast can buy BMW X5 Engine blue print and build that engine in VN's factory, but we still use GM engine for Fadil model. So, Trump wont slap hard sanction on VN's products.

Why cars in VN r expensive ?? Bcs most of VN roads r quite small, too many ppl using cars will make traffic jam get much worse.

Lol, you are too angry. Sorry to bust your myth, but vinfast produces their own car body with a giant press machine from Schuler of Germany, chassis, transmission, and even the crankshaft of the engine. Rebadge in your chinese dream,😆 . Your crappy chinese car try so hard to export to our market, but they got no taker.. when Vietnamese spend 50k for Vinfast instead of a few bucks on your chinese car then you know how high we think about your cars. you chinese even work overtime to predict that at the end of 2020 Vinfast is going to bankruptcy lol.

Just like I said: Making cars is easy now, just buy all blue prints u need from Germany, build some good factories, build R&D center, too. Hire some German experts for training, then we will get good cars with German standard.

CN only can make crappy cars cos CN labor cost is too high, so they have No choice but making crappy cars to lower the price. But still no one buy
